Just watched the morning news (oh boy) and saw another violent attack on an Asian by a black man,, this one in San Francisco. Last week it was New York,, WTF !@!@!
Blacks get killed by bad cops so they take it out on innocent Asians ? Covid retaliation ?? I can't see blacks watching the hate spreader network fox,, so WTF is going on here ? Is our country just fucked beyond redemption ?

Really surprised that the issue of "black" crime reared its head here, but if people really want to discuss it, bear in mind that crime and violence (both in terms of victims and perpetrators) goes hand in hand with poverty. While there has been improvement in recent decades, black Americans are still twice as likely to live in poverty than white Americans and have only a tiny fraction of the accumulated wealth. That's what 400 years of institutionalized oppression and disenfranchisement will do to a community. It is not surprising, therefore, that the black community suffers from for a disproportionate share of violence and crime - as both victims and perpetrators.
I haven't seen statistics on the recent attacks on Asian people, but its a safe bet that a big percentage of the people doing the beatings seen on recent viral videos are low income. It doesn't excuse the behavior, but sheds some light on the root cause of the problem and the big picture steps needed to address it.

The systemic nature of things
The systemic nature of things also put Asians and Indians in their neighborhood in running small stores profiting from their community in something they seen as not available to them because of Racism. This has caused some of the hatred on both sides. Not sure why a lot of blacks hate Haitians but that is also out there. The white man does not have a monopoly in the hate game, but has caused the most damage.

You are right. It was a white guy who killed all those Asian ladies down in Atlanta. It was also a white guy who killed those Sikhs at the Fed Ex facility in Indiana.

I quit watching the national
I quit watching the national news about a year and a half ago.
Much happier, less depressed, and the slim chance that i might watch 10 minutes here or there reminds me that my not watching the national/world news has changed only my world, not the one around me.

We do a bi-monthly wellness
We do a bi-monthly wellness webinar in my company and early on in the pandemic they recommended to get away from National news and watch local news which is what I have been doing along w PBS every now and then.
I will comment that being married to an Asian and my son being half Asian this stuff that is currently happening is kinda freaking me out.
