Funny, I was teaching my 16-year-old how to drive today and had Sirius XM on listening to a Playin In the Band and as he is navigating on-coming traffic, I look at the radio and it is 4-10-1983. I’ll be dammed. I was at Indiana University of PA and about 40 of us hired a bus driver in a big ole yellow school bus, 2 kegs, and a 2.5 hr bus ride down to the show. Now, I don’t remember it being a particularly solid show, kind of B- as I recall but that bus ride was an A+. On Sirius today, the show sounded better than I remember. Still have a shirt from that show (it don’t fit)
Funny how time flies. If anyone in the Zone was on that bus, drop me a note.

Not on your bus, but "round
Not on your bus, but "round-tripped" that one from Buffalo.
I concur it wasn't a real strong show, but do recall a powerful "China Doll". That building was pretty cool, as college gyms went.

Caught the 1st 3 shows on
Caught the 1st 3 shows on this excellent tour, the much appreciated return of Help>Slip>Franklin's, as was still being able to mix in medium size arenas & colleges.
Not quite as strong as the tour opener in Hampton, but a fun 2nd set. China Doll was returned to the rotation 2 weeks earlier, first time since July '81. Nice run of tunes starting w/UJB, always loved any show with the Playin'>Wheel>Playin' medley. Last show at Broome County was next.
2nd year in a row having a birthday party on tour, having seen the Passaic solo shows in '82.

83 was a great year. Night
83 was a great year. Night before Morgan Town was Hampton and it was east cost tour opening night. . My first show in the state. I was doing a few shows. Drove from New York with some fine heads. It was a good show.
Morning comes...... we follows the path to the river shore Lightly sung, her song is the latch on the morning's door See the sun sparkle in the reeds; silver beads pass into the seaI.
Was psyched for the next show. Morning comes We drove to Morgantown and it was a long ass haul in a car that's been through many a tour.i think it wa a 72 Duster and it took us like 7 hours taking the scenic route. We had muffler issues as well. Thank god for duct tape.. Show was not nearly as good as Hampton but did hear some fine tunes and had good moments. This might have been one of the most mediocre of the dozen shows I saw in 83.
But the quality of the audio recording above is excellent. Jerry's voice is heart warming. Glad to have listened to it again.

^Hey KK! Long time no see.
^Hey KK! Long time no see. Hope you are well.
Greasyheart: I hope that the driving lessons are going well (I've been through that over recent years).
When I was in college, we hired a bus/keg and went to Irvine Amphitheater. Had to wait for a long time after the show for a final straggler. Good times (and yes, I suppose that I am a youngster to some of you well-respected folks).

He is a good driver, dad is a white knuckler. Haven't taken him on Hway 101 or 280 yet--just the back roads on San Mateo County. Yea, that gym where they did the show was good. I like the gym vibe of GD shows--Lafayette in 79, Rutgers in 81 come to mind as some of the memorable ones

The drive from Hampton to
The drive from Hampton to Morgantown was BRUTAL and I was only a passenger. A lot of driving on this tour. Straight from Binghamton to Burlington was also brutal and I was only a passenger we hugged the guardrail at one point as I recall was a close call. The only show I missed on this tour was Orono, Maine.
