Farewell Oregon!

Forums:

I'm starting this thread to share photos on my way to the Golden Shore!

Had a surreal day today, starting w/ one last appointment w/ my hippie osteopath / music collector, who has a recording studio in his basement. He made me 6 CDs of road trip music but I won't know what kind of tunes are on there until I play them -- what a sweet gesture.

Then got a cappuccino w/ extra art.... took all my computer equipment back to the office, deposit my final paycheck...and take many many calls and text messages from colleagues.  This means I'm still not all the way packed yet, but that's alright.

Will post more later... on the road early tomorrow morning and I'll blow kisses to Judit, Surfdead and Noodler as I cruise down I-5!

Portland Ken, I plan to return around Memorial Day weekend, so hope we can get together that week.

Plus, I just got invited to a house party in early April w/ a live band -- so eager for that, and I don't even know which band is playing, and that's alright!

Safe travels!

I'll be anticipating a kiss in the wind tomorrow, LOL...

Safe travels, and good luck w/ the new gig!

Excellent!

Bon voyage!

Right on. Have an awesome trip!

Goodbye Oregon, hello California!!!!!! (And Oregon is still pretty close to the BA....score)!

Its still all Ecotopia.

Safe travels and see you soon!

Thanks all!

Only driving as far as Shasta tomorrow... hope the weather is good for picture taking!

Back to packing, fueled by today's 4 shots of espresso, which is not my usual practice..... bzzzzzzz!

Large low pressure system off shore, giving ya a chance of showers / hail / slight chance of thunderstorms for the entire drive, be safe! (snow level around 3k feet)

I await the kiss. kiss

besitos, Judit!

thanks Noodler for the forecast, really appreciate that -- sounds great -- my snow tires are still on.

Californy is the place you ought to be
So she loaded up the truck and she drove past Berkeley

Best wishes for a wonderful trip with musical surprises and good luck on your new adventure. Be safe.

Safe travels ! Look forward to the fotos.

Don't forget the passes along I-5 can get pretty Gnarly this time of year.  Snow tires Good;  chains Better.  I like the Les Schwab diamond pattern (think they're LaClede brand).

Maybe you're taking the 101 Scenic route ?

May the road rise up to meet you.

Good luck with the move.  You've been in the PNW for a number of years, so this is a significant move.  Hope you enjoy the warmer temps and the  NorCal scene.

Safe travels.

Exciting times!  Smooth travels!  And don't pick up any hitch hikers named Jean from Aberdeen.

Furthur

Have fun storming the castle.

..and see you soon!

Have a safe trip, looking forward to meeting you at the socially distanced bonfire!

Noodler- love that photo!

Awaiting you with open arms!

The pooches are going to smother you in kisses:)

see ya tomorrow!!!!

I hope all is well.

It's now sunny in the Bay Area.

godspeed  intrepid

8:30PM > Shasta > hot tub> crash

Got a late start due to late-night packing

Love the mountain pass through southern Oregon.. saw a beautiful sunset from the car, but Shasta was hidden by a dark storm cloud.

Listened to the first 2 "On the Road" mystery CDs... all songs w/ the word "road"... and lots of folk tunes, some that GD played in early years... some cool Johnny Cash too.

Roshambo! Hasta mañana

Everyone: Thanks for your welcomes and good wishes... it was a positive day.

Congratulations.  No helmet needed here.

The sky is beautiful

a nice light blue and white puffy clouds

Yay, I made it!   .... so happy to hug Roshambo yesterday,.... hadn't seen her since summer 2019!

This place is pretty cool, with sweeping views from my deck of the lights in the valley to the east and the housemates have been very kind.  We shared wine and smoked salmon I brought for them from Oregon and told stories... when she learned about my love for Grateful Dead, the owner told stories of hippies coming up into these hills after Shoreline shows looking for camp spots.... and she said "you'll have to educate me on the jamband genre"

It'll be a good place to spend the summer while I look for my own place.

Here's Shasta... the good weather started here yesterday morn!

My Lord how beautiful. Sure wish I could attend your housewarming party. Then again, good thing I can't, I would never leave.  I used to have a friend, Sandy Lee Vaughan that lived near Shasta.  You lucky people.

Enjoy my man !@!

There won't be a housewarming at this place, maybe when I rent my own place.....

Love Shasta village... that would be a cool mountain place to retire.

It's cool to be above the fog, wow!  Elevation -~ 1700 ft here

Oregonians, come get some sun!
