My Little Brother Steven - Happy Birthday

Forums:

Today is the anniversary of Steven's birth. He would have been 70 years old today. If things were different & he was still alive there would be a big party today. Instead all we have is memories.

He was a well known surfer & quite a legend in Sonoma County.  His home was a shrine to surfing, the Grateful Dead and rock & roll generally. Signed photos of him with everyone. It was estimated that he saw Jerry, with the Dead, JGB,, & other incarnations at least 500 times. He was quite a personality.

The newspaper article of his death & life is included here  https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/bodega-bay-surfer-escapes-hou...

Even though he has been gone 7 years I still miss him & think of him every day.

There is the old saying that you only die twice. Once when you draw your last breath & once when the last person who knows you speaks your name.

I  love you Steven.

Happy birthday Steven

Thinking of you and your brother.

Steven was a great dude, may his memories last forever.

Sreven

Your big brother is very proud of you.

and he misses you immensely  .....   every day

just yesterday, he who was ( per usual ) spoke so eloquently about you - and in doing so,  indirectly he spoke to you

your second death will be far away, as your name and memories will endure

I do think i only met you once - in line for the first TXR grand opening pre shows, and i can still see you slitting near the front of the line - sitting off to the side, and yes i did see a certain glow..

peace brother jim, celebrate having Steven as long as you did, and cherish all those memories - and tip an old bourbon for him today

He sounds like he lived a truly interesting life and was loved and respected by many.  I can only imagine the stories after 500 shows.

Sorry for your loss, Crabneesh. I wasn't around here when Steven passed, but your posts regarding him have always been thoughtful, informative and loving.

.....no goodbyes are an additional layer of pain to cope with that I wouldn't wish upon anyone.

(((((((((((((Crabneesh and Family))))))))))))))

Hi Crabneesh, thinking of you and your little brother.  Keep on keeping on and the memory lives.

Well crab,

let's also not forget the story of how he helped Mr Mandel out of a ditch along the great highway of life.

Since you mentioned the great Harvey in an earlier message.

Perhaps you could share it for those who have no clue just how special steven is and was .

I love how sweetly you celebrated Steven, Crabneesh. It's beautiful and opens my heat every time. heart

Much love Crab.

I haven't met crabneesh, and didn't meet Steven, but I thought I'd just bask in the warmth here for a minute or two.

What an amazing guy. What a life. Talk about pegging the fun meter! He did it right.

Thanks for sharing him Crabneesh, and your annual remembrance of him. I wish comfort to your heart, as I'm sure losing him was/is an incredibly tough thing to go through.

You guys sure have a LOVE THAT WILL NOT FADE AWAY!  We all wish for the same!

Keep on Shining Bright Brother
