Today, at the Marin County Civic Center. I got my second dose.

Of course, the site of GD shows in '83 and '84, (I still can't believe they let them play there), So Far video filmed there in '85,

and they recorded In The Dark there, also other Garcia/Weir appearances. (Wife bumped into a drunk Weir after

the Garcia/Weir/Tuna show there in '88 in the parking lot and he signed her ticket with shaky hand).

As most of you know, The Grateful Dead played the last St. Stephen at this wonderful venue on Halloween 1983.

Local, I quit my job in 1983 and traveled to Colorado and New Mexico to see if I wanted to move there from Eugene. I went to Sky City on the Acoma Reservation including the church of San Esteban (Saint Stephen), the patron saint of the Acoma pueblo. Then I took the train from New Mexico to L.A. and San Diego and flew to SFO and found myself whistling St. Stephen much of the way. I had gotten tickets to the '83 Marin Civic shows through mail order and was blown away when they played it. (I love it when a plan comes together?) I also took my parents to one of the '84 shows there, their first show, I think. Hometown for them, and after that they went to shows at the Greek and another Bay Area place, can't remember which.

Wow - never seen those Corvallis posters before. At one time there was some confusion in the media as to whether the Corvallis GD show (didn't attend; didn't live here then) was at Gill or the Field House - guess this settles it.

Great story Judit. You were lucky to be there. That must have been mind-blowing for you when they went into it.

I'm guessing since you're still in Eugene that the trip didn't convince you to move.

I took my mom to a Garcia Band show once in my hometown, once was enough for her but I was proud of her for giving it a shot.

By the way, I was going through the wife's postcard collection and sure enough, I did find one of yours in there.

She said "I told you I bought cards from her way back when."
