Can we talk about Freaks & Geeks?

Forums:

Been watching it on Hulu and almost finished with the first and only season.   I've heard about it in recent years, but had otherwise never known it existed.  It's an excellent series & can't believe it never went beyond the first season.  For those who haven't seen it, I'd describe it as something akin to a John Hughes work combined with Revenge of the Nerds and Wonder Years.

You'll find the last episode to be dear to your heart.

Crazy how many major stars were spawned on that single season show.

Shine on, you crazy diamonds!

I think I only have 3 or 4 left, so soon enough!

I haven't really delved too much into where the cast wound up in later years, but  did recognize a few faces from older TV / Movies such as "Roy DeSoto" and of course "Biff".  It took me a while to place Sam's dad, even though I knew I knew him from the get go!

Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segal and Busy Phillips all became stars.

Yes

probably the greatest single season tv show of all time.

also on the show:

Rashida Jones

Lizzy Caplan

Shia LaBeouf

Ben Foster

and a couple guys from the MST3K gang

Never saw an episode.  But I read a bunch about it in Judd Apatow's interview book of (mostly) comedians.

Side note:  While Seth Rogan is a funny guy, I don't believe him for a second when he's acting.  Can't get past it.  I find him unwatchable when he's doing scripted material. His best work was producing Preachercheeky

I had previously looked up LC just to see what she looks like now, but have never seen any of her subsequent work.

Just looked up the rest in your list and haven't ever seen anything they're credited for, but that's likely more a product of me having large black holes in time for many movies and tv series.   Looking back, this is likely why I had never watched Freaks & Geeks.   In 1999/2000, I didn't have cable or tv reception and only checked out DVD's from our library.

Yes<<<

I watched the third to the last episode last night, so might do a doubleheader tonight to wrap it up ... although I can kind of guess, there have been at least a couple instances of what might be considered foreshadowing.  I just don't know precisely how it'll go down.

I highly recommend it.  It just became available on hulu.

If it helps any:  of the 8 "main characters" in school, Seth Rogen's had the least focus/development.

Yes, the last episode will warm your heart!!!!

Bloodline. "we're not bad people......but we did a bad thing" (insert giggle)

Yeah, last episode is a tear-jerker .... and kind of what I suspected.  I had actually seen the final scene in a YouTube clip ... I think it was a link on the pt green board.

It actually very extremely well as a one-season series.

(and maybe I spoke too soon about Seth Rogen, he did get a second "spotlight" show in the second to last episode)

Thanks for that Undeclared link.  Never seen that show.  Just binged the entire season.  Loudon Wainwright was great in it!
