Who likes watching foreign movies with subtitles?

Forums:

Saw this one a while back. It's pretty good and funny.

I will say that a lot of foreign movies seem dumb till you watch till the end and finally get it. Especially Asian comedies. Most have a moral and love connection.

Kung Fu movies are best with subtitles, although sometimes the translations on the more low budget ones don't make any sense.

Cartel members aren't nearly as scary when they're threatening someone in English so i dont mind the subtitles.

I used to avoid foreign films like the plague, but have gotten into them moreso over the pandemic.

Just started watching "A French Village" on Prime.

Downfall is a great movie

Das Boot was a great series

I'm a fan... but prefer films featuring languages that I've studied so that I can improve my comprehension skills.

I enjoy all sorts of foreign Films with subtitles,  but also enjoy switching on the Spanish or French subtitles during English-language movies.

Helps me to maintain linguistic skills and keep the Attic of vocabulary topped up.

The subtitled version of  La Cage Aux Folle was a lot better than the dubbed version.   But mostly no, I don't want to read a movie.

Apocalypto was an interesting one to watch.  It was in some extinct Mayan dialect.  I ended up watching it three times.  The first time I read the subtitles thoroughly to comprehend the action.  The second time I focused on the cinematography.  The third time I played it with the director's commentary.

City Of God is worth the time.

^And City of God has a great Brazilian-Funk soundtrack!

I'm good with doing a bit of reading during a movie.

Right now, I'm watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) with Lon Chaney.  Silent film, so there's reading involved in this one (though you don't miss the action).

The Black Book is an awesome foreign movie.
