seriously, young kittens will bond faster with the dogs. A pair is recommended by most shelters so the kitten can get wild with one another.

German Shepherds, Family
German Shepherds, Family Dogs over the years have not been very Nurturing toward kitty-cats. WHile some Co-existed, in general the Shepherds were Cat-killers.
Just my observation from 40 years of German Shepherd Dogs living in the house. Great guard-dogs, very protective, loyal, highly trainable, but not really Cat-Friendly. Yes, it would be different if they grew up together as infants.
