Anyone Still Waiting on Packages?

Forums:

Yesterday I finally received something that was ordered on December 4. I'm still waiting for something that was mailed on the 6th. Maybe it will be here by her birthday, in April.

Yeah.  Waiting on two items from an order placed Dec 2.  One will be here tomorrow.  Not sure the other item has even shipped yet.  Not sure if I blame Sur La Table, the Staub warehouse in France or the USPS.

I recently asked a postal clerk how long it would take for a piece of 1st class mail to arrive to a NYC address from NJ. They told me up to 6 weeks.

Ordered from Jerry Garcia store on October 1st....Expecting today

My postmaster blamed it on 3 things: increased volume, not enough workers, and then the big one, sorting machines were removed and dismantled.

^

All valid reasons for delay but I'm sure at least part of it is postal union flexing. USPS workers used to have the most amazing package and that has slowly whittled away. I know any number of people that used to work for the post office that retired with 5+ years of accumulated overtime/holiday pay at their highest salary. Newer employees don't get those perks anymore. Still, up to 6 weeks to deliver a piece of mail that I could walk to and back at least once a day is rather disappointing.

My piece sat in the Jersey City center for a week before being sent to Springfield, MA, where it took over a week to be accepted. It sat there for another week before being sent to Nashua, where it's just hanging out.

I live in NY, and ordered a book Dec1st, on Dec27th it said it arrived in Albany NY, and was being sent to San Francisco..lol

It seems like increasing logistical blunders that are difficult to pinpoint - it could be the sorting machine "issue", the organization being being short-staffed, employee morale, or, or, or.

I sent a small package to WI from CA that was supposed to be delivered on Fri but sat in Orlando over the entire weekend before actually being delivered on Monday.

I am waiting on 2 still. Dec 8th and 10th ship dates. I guess mid January presents are good.

I had a crappy white unmarked van pull up to my house last night at 11 PM. Guy gets out and walks up to my door holding a something in his hand. Dog goes fucking crazy wants to kill the guy because my wife is freaked out. He doesn't even get to door and leaves the package on the half wall. All we see is some guy turn around and leave after the dog goes crazy. Someone is going to shoot that guy. WTF.

My sister sent a package on the 8th. Expected Delivery December 11.  Arrival December 24.

Yep.  One of my kids got the screwing this year. Both our order for her and her grandmothers order for her still haven't come w her gifts.  We had to grab some alternate gifts late xmas eve just so she had a few items to open.   It's usually her twin sister that gets the short end of the stick.  Tracking keeps changing date of delivery.

 >>>>>where it's just hanging out.

Those packages get the best vacations.

> Someone is going to shoot that guy. WTF.

A UPS driver here was stabbed to death by his helper last week. Truck crashed on the side of the highway, helper/killer seen running from truck. Supposedly they were arguing over a tip...

The delivery people are still working 14+ hour days here.

In early December I sent my mother a big box, regular post. She got it 2 days later. On the same day, my mother sent my daughter a small box, overnight and insured. It took 2 weeks to get here.

I have a package coming and the tracking info(today) says to be delivered 12/28(yesterday) by 9pm.  But the latest tracking info has it in NC on the morning of the 24th.  UPS not USPS.

I've had good luck with USPS and Fed Ex, but UPS has been the worst. Not sure though if the small businesses I supported are slacking or the delivery company, but it does seem like most of the delays are from businesses that use UPS. I got an Etsy order from Turkey of all places within a week, USPS.

ups has til 9 tonight...

my usps/mailman guy is the BOMB, such a nice hard working man.
