Leslie West, get well!

Forums:

This was posted on Facebook tonight by Leslie's brother, Larry (he's on FB as Larry West Weinstein):

"I am asking for all your prayers. Jenni [Leslie's wife] is by his side in Florida but it's not looking good. Thanks Jenni, he wouldn't have made it this far without you."

Larry went on to say "His heart gave out and he's on a ventilator. May not make it through the night."

Prayers and love please to the great Leslie West!

How is Mountain not in the R& R Hall of Fame?

Dammm that's sad. He's been fighting health issues for years.

A real warm hot shit guy to meet too, always cool as fuck, and one mutherfucker of a player and singer.

Mountains biggest mistake was being talked out of signing the woodstock video/audio release by their manager.  They would be a household name, been in the hall of fame and Leslie would have been a hell of a lot healthier had the money been rolling in the door.

Leslie West will always have a special spot in my musical soul. So many great songs, inspired playing, being a brash New Yorker in the best way...the list goes on. I hope he is peaceful and not in pain either way this thing goes. On top of all that, he provided me with one of my favorite photos I have taken. He was performing Mississippi Queen at the final edition of the Jammys and saw me getting pushed around in the photo pit and pointed at me to move to a particular spot, I did and a few bars later he mugged directly at me for this photo.

Great shot Tony heart

Nothing but LOVE headed Your way Dear Leslie....

I remember the first time I saw LW live. It was a couple songs on TV and I'm guessing it was around 1973. I was floored a cat could step up for 2 songs just songs and deliver at the level he did. It was like a tornado coming out of the old BW 19" TV. I still don't quite grasp how he didn't make the big time.

Great photo, Tony.

This is the updateon Facebook from Marty Weinstein...

Leslie’s heart stopped for 30 minutes yesterday. He’s still on a ventilator and in kidney failure. We’re waiting for a report on his brain activity but the outlook is bleak.
After 60 years on the road anyone would just be tired and worn out. The last time I spoke to him he was funny as hell and in good spirits.
If you’re into prayers please direct them towards Jenni and Larry, the two people most responsible for keeping him with us for this long. My only goal is to protect them from being bombarded.
I will continue to update when appropriate.

Does he have the Covid?

RIP TO A LEGEND heart

Saw him once, when my kid's chapter of School of rock open for Mountain (at a YMCA gym).  Funny guy.  The first two times he said "fuckin'", he apologized (School of Rock show = lots of soccer moms, grandparents, little sibs).  Third time, he said, "Ehh, fuck it!  You'll hear worse things in your life, kid."

Great set. Tight trio; great bass player.  West made a point of saying the guy was an even better guitarist whom he'd never let play guitar on stage with him.  Said something to the effect of "They'll start putting his name on the tickets."

We have a framed show poster right in front of Lily's ultra-bougie exercise bike.

Worst fucking year ever

RIP Mr West, man he could play some psychedelic guitar. My favorite song was sitting on a rainbow off climbing.

He played all over upstate, one of my older friends saw Mountain twice at local colleges. He turned me on to them, still one of my faves.

Saw Mountain at a little shithole in Reading PA called The Silo.

Anyone remember The Silo?

Last song was Missippi Queen and Leslie was pissed off at the sound guys all night, ended up yelling in between verses to "GET THE FUCKING BASS OUT OF THE MONITORS!!!!!!" Ended up  he trashed the drum kit and other things in a fit of ecstatic rock and roll rage! Great moment we all just went wild with disbelief.

GREAT FUCKING SHOW!!!!!!!!!!

RIP you wild man!
