I must admit, I didn't see this till just this morning. And it was shortly after I got pretty upset -- I was kinda fuming because I had just caught a story about how Joe is not putting a priority on having his dept of justice pursue charges against the don. It brought me back to 08 when Obama made an effort to heal heal wounds too, and publicly said he wouldn't go after gw for the Iraq war yellow cake wmd lies. And I remember how furious I was with brother O. I mean if you can't go after That War, WTF can you prosecute ? Yeah forgive, maybe we can get this country more united. Hahaaaa yeah that worked out well. Forgive the rats and all they do is MORE fucked up shit. W only killed innocents, todays prez is a one man wrecking ball who had devided and destroyed this country for generations to come, and should be convicted and incarcerated for the rest of this life. And right after I worked myself into a fine lather, I saw Fallon's vid.

I rarely listen to pundits, but a few weeks ago I saw one, somewhere, who postulated that the feds won't go after him. It will be a deal with him to leave the White House like he's supposed to, and ensure the peaceful transfer of power. In some ways, maybe that's a fair trade-off.
What will make it more fair is that a federal deal won't extend to State jurisdictions. You better believe that New York is going to go after him like flies on shit!

Trump will almost certainly try to pardon himself, or will resign and be pardoned by Pence, but even if he receives a pardon, New York City and State can still bring charges against him. I'm guessing he'll end up fleeing the US to avoid prosecution, he hinted at that in some late campaign speeches, and will not be surprised if he heads for Russia to spill what he knows to Putin to buy down his debt to Russian oligarchs.

That's a given. I can see the Trump organization paying a bunch of fines (probably using other people's money), but can't realistically see the guy going to jail. By and large, there is a high tolerance for white collar crime in this country and there will be plenty of people further down on the totem pole who would be willing to take a few for the team. Trump should be in prison (old time stocks would be especially great) but that's just wishful thinking.

It's not that I wouldn't mind seeing trump in prison, it's just sort of unnerving to me that we could potentially turn into one of those countries that does the whole "put the last president in prison" sort of dance. They don't seem to ever politically "go backwards" from that point.
