I had a policeman point a gun at my head right near those buildings across the park in the background the day of the Garcia Grisman shows at the warfield in Jan 94. A lil mistaken identity that sorted itself out but one of the more frightening things I’ve had happen on the road
Yeah, I've definitely gone down that rabbit hole as well.
It brings a new tool to revisiting "old haunts" for sure
While it's a little different, I've been wanting to try out Microsoft Flight Simulator for similar reasons.
With the GGP clip, I realized it's been a while since I've been in the Bay Area ... let alone the park itself. Stuck mostly Oakland for Cheese in 2016 and then Santa Clara for GD50 in 2015. Likely would've been a Furthur NYE show around 2012 the last time I made it to GGP.

In general, folks weren't as overweight back then. Much more athletic.

I'm such a nerd about these kind of things, I had to figure out exactly where that was.
The stage was on the north side of the Panhandle facing south, with Ashbury Street behind them.
Far out.

The date's off, this is the Love Pageant Rally (10/6/1966), I recognize Jerry's striped sweater from a Gene Anthony photo.
Here's unedited KTVU-TV footage from the same event (Phil at 2:28 with beer and cigarette);

Yeah, that's how I figured it out.
I can't say how much I love Google Maps.
I have hours of fun with it, roaming all over the world.
Cruising around the streets of San Francisco, where buildings standing 53 years ago stand today.
Or the streets of a small town on a small island in the Adriatic Sea, where my father grew up 100 years ago.
It's far out.
