I just got an email from my mom, who attended the rally in Chicago where they had about 150,000 participants. The turn-out was so high, they had to cancel the march through the streets and just gathered in Grant Park.
DC is rocking their pussyhats hard. There was a much larger turn-out for today's march than for yesterday's inauguration.
The Washington organizers, who originally sought a permit for a gathering of 200,000, said Saturday that as many as a half million people participated, dwarfing Friday’s inaugural crowd. More than 470,000 people had taken Metro by 1 p.m., a weekend ridership record. (By 11 a.m. on Inauguration Day, 193,000 trips had been taken.)
Small rally in Redwood City today. Joan Baez sang. Good message, good energy. People are feeling motivated to make a difference and fight for equality and justice. Kept running into people I know there. Keep the momentum going, people. It's going to be a long road ahead.
"I Am a NASTY Woman" by 19-year-old Nina Donovan of Tennessee, performed by Ashley Judd
"I am a nasty woman, I’m not as nasty as a man who looks like he bathes in Cheeto dust,”
"I didn't know devils could be resurrected, but I feel Hitler in these streets," "A moustache traded for a toupee, Nazis renamed."
“I am not as nasty as racism, fraud, conflict of interest, homophobia, sexual assault, transphobia, white supremacy, misogyny, ignorance, white privilege.”
Steve Jaxon's odd angled picture of SR march reflected in the courthouse windows. The street directly out in front of the courthouse was cordoned off with sawhorse roadblocks. The entire down town square has been under construction for a few months, so there's no really central spot to the march to listen to the speakers. The crowd goes shoulder to shoulder around several blocks, surrounding the down town plaza rather than gathering in it. People were also filling up the parking garages overlooking to get a better view out of the rain.
I have a bad shoulder injury, so I don't carry signs, I just did the walk around. I walked there, so I had the opportunity to meet and chat with some nice folks along the way.
I saw an infant carrying a sign today. his siblings had equally adorable signs. So cool seeing all the art (and the messages) among the crowd. The creativity on display was impressive.
I thought I heard a baby cry this morning,
I thought I heard a baby cry this today.
You didn't hear no baby cry this morning,
You didn't hear no baby cry today.
100,000 people showed up for the march in PDX today - three times the number they expected and the biggest public gathering in the state's history. We tried taking the light rail down, but after four trains pulled up and went by completely packed, we ended up driving down.
It was hard to get a sense of the magnitude of the march from the ground, but the aerial footage from TV new helicopters was stunning.
I just spoke with my friend who was at the rally in LA today. She said the rally drew 750,000 people, which I doubted until I read it in the news. The organizers are claiming 750,000 and LAPD says it was only 500,000, but either way it's an amazing turn-out.
"The women’s march in Washington was roughly three times the size of the audience at President Trump’s inauguration" ...and that doesn't count the millions more in US cities and around the world that participated.
Nod's link is so disturbing, although probably not as disturbing as what the troll posed above - not that I'd open it.
>>The plan was simple. Montrealer Sasha Dyck and some friends would drive to Washington to join the Women’s March. But when the six Canadians and two French nationals reached the border at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle in Quebec, they ran into trouble.
U.S. border agents asked what they planned to do in the United States. “We said we were going to the Women’s March on Saturday and they said, ‘Well, you’re going to have to pull over,’” Dyck told the Guardian. Agents then searched their car and examined their cellphones, Dyck said. Each member of the group was fingerprinted and had their pictures taken.
Finally, after two hours, the agents told Dyck and his friends to turn around. “They said, ‘You’re headed home today,’” Dyck said. Officials warned them that that they’d be arrested if they tried to cross at a different spot this weekend. “And that was it. They didn’t give a lot of justification.”
The two French citizens were told that they’d now need a visa if they wanted to enter the United States. French and British citizens can enter the United States without a visa if they apply for clearance through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). But if your ESTA application is denied, or if you’re turned away at the border, you’re required to have a visa to enter the country in the future.
Dyck says he has travelled to the United States before without incident. In 2009, he drove to D.C. for Barack Obama’s inauguration. When he crossed into New York, Dyck said, the agent gave him a high-five.
Other travellers reported similar struggles this weekend.
British national Joe Kroese and a Canadian were turned away from the same border crossing on Thursday as they travelled with two American friends.
Kroese, 23, was asked by an American border agent why he was travelling to the United States. He told guards that his friends planned to attend the Women’s March, though they hadn’t worked out all their plans yet. At that point, Kroese and the Canadian were fingerprinted, photographed and denied entry. Agents allegedly told them it was because they wanted to attend a “potentially violent rally,” according to Kroese.
Although the two Americans were granted entry, agents told Kroese, who is studying at McGill University, that he’ll now need a visa to travel across the border. The Canadian was told not to try to cross into the United States again for a couple of months.
Montreal resident Joseph Decunha said he was also turned away on Thursday. A border agent asked for his political views, Decunha told CBC. “The first thing he asked us point blank is, ‘Are you anti- or pro-Trump?’” he said.
He was then fingerprinted and photographed. “They told me I was being denied entry for administrative reasons. According to the agent, my travelling to the United States for the purpose of protesting didn’t constitute a valid reason to cross,” Decunha said. The guards also asked why he disapproved of Trump, whether he’d ever visited the Middle East, and whether he believed in violence.
“I’ve never been denied entry at any border crossing before. I have no criminal record. I’ve never done anything illegal in Canada or in any other country,” Decunha said. “It felt like, if we had been pro-Trump, we would have absolutely been allowed entry.”
>>These are not normal times. These are extraordinary times. And extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.
When you have a spokesperson for the president of the United States wrap up a lie in the Orwellian phrase "alternative facts”…
When you have a press secretary in his first appearance before the White House reporters threaten, bully, lie, and then walk out of the briefing room without the cajones to answer a single question…
When you have a President stand before the stars of the fallen CIA agents and boast about the size of his crowds (lies) and how great his authoritarian inaugural speech was….
These are not normal times.
The press has never seen anything like this before. The public has never seen anything like this before. And the political leaders of both parties have never seen anything like this before.
What can we do? We can all step up and say simply and without equivocation. "A lie, is a lie, is a lie!" And if someone won't say it, those of us who know that there is such a thing as the truth must do whatever is in our power to diminish the liar's malignant reach into our society.
There is one group of people who can do a lot - very quickly. And that is Republicans in Congress. Without their support, Donald Trump's presidency will falter. So here is what I think everyone in the press must do. If you are interviewing a Paul Ryan, a Mitch McConnell, or any other GOP elected official, the first question must be "what will you do to combat the lying from the White House?" If they dodge and weave, keep with the follow ups. And if they refuse to give a satisfactory answer, end the interview.
Facts and the truth are not partisan. They are the bedrock of our democracy. And you are either with them, with us, with our Constitution, our history, and the future of our nation, or you are against it. Everyone must answer that question.
Don’t just complain to your friends, let Congress know how you feel. Often. When you disagree with them AND when you agree. Write Reps here & Senators here.
Tell state legislatures it’s time to get rid of the Electoral College. We can make it happen, and we can do it without a Constitutional amendment, through an innovative approach known as the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

Take action online. Repeatedly, and on multiple issues. Don’t let decision-makers just hear from one side.
Keep a sense of humor. It will keep you sane. And it can be a very powerful way to communicate a message.
Create your own fake Trump tweets. Use his favorite medium to mock him.
Register to vote. And then VOTE.
Set a recurring weekly appointment in your calendar to contact Congress.
Don’t get distracted by what he tweets. He’s had a pattern of sending outrageous tweets to take attention away negative news about him.
Keep up with the latest progressive news, for activism opportunities. Daily Kos and Talking Points Memo are particularly good sources (and consider making a donation to them as well, to help offset expenses, which can be very high with a high-traffic web site)
Make a special effort to reach out to people in groups who may feel especially targeted by Trump’s rhetoric and actions. Let them know they have support.
Do you live in a very blue state, like New York or California? Thinking about moving? Think about moving to a purple/swing state, and help tip the balance!
Push our elected officials to hold hearings on conflict of interest issues as outlined in the Constitution (see “Emoluments” clause) and move towards impeachment if action is not taken by Trump.
Ask the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to investigate conflicts of interest in President Elect Trump’s business empire. Don’t call, use this web form: https://oversight.house.gov/whistle/ Put “End White House Corruption” in the subject line. Direct your post at: Chairman Chaffetz. Chaffetz is a conservative Mormon. He often speaks of the need for moral government. Don’t come across left; say “this is a compelling moral issue for our country”. Use terms he will recognize from his Mormon beliefs, such as: you have a moral obligation to your country and to your LDS testimony….The word “testimony” is key.
In all of your communications with Congress, point out that the Democrats won by over 2 million votes. There is no mandate here, and they need to serve the needs of ALL Americans.
If you see news stories that are “normalizing” the Trump regime, see if the reporter has an email listed. If they do, send the reporter an email about this.
Donate to the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC). These folks are a savvy group of environmental lawyers, and we’ll need ’em in the coming years. Think of NRDC as the “ACLU of the environmental movement.”
Attend the TOWN MEETINGS of US House Representatives and Senators. Dress up, come armed with facts, and bring a dozen friends.
IF YOU LIVE IN DC, part 1: Fly the rainbow flag, so Pence will see LGBT support everywhere he goes. Get ’em in windows and get ’em on flagpoles, and if we get a couple thousand of ’em we can make this a national news story that highlights Pence’s homophobia. DC voted for HRC at 94%; let’s fly the colors so it LOOKS like we voted 94%.
IF YOU LIVE IN DC, part 2: Put a sign in your window showing the popular vote totals and keep it there for four years. Keep reminding team Trump and his minions we…er…won…and he…er…won on a technicality.
IF YOU LIVE IN DC, part 3: Attend the counter Trump demonstrations in DC. Opposition drives Trump crazy. Let’s see how many tweet storms we can generate.
IF YOU LIVE IN DC, part 4: Make a custom bumper sticker for your car: LGBT yes PENCE no. Love Trumps Hate. Etc.
IF YOU LIVE IN DC, part 5: Give business to Comet Ping Pong, a great pizza place which has been unfairly attacked by 100% BS right-wing conspiracy stories, stories which drove a man wielding a gun to show up to “self-investigate.” Don’t let the nuts drive this place out of business.
EMAIL AND CALL SMARTLY: Don’t wear your partisanship on your sleeve, it makes you less effective. If you are calling about renewable energy say “America needs the jobs renewable energy brings and wind and solar entrepreneurs deserve our support”. Turn Facebook anger into real action. EVERY TIME you post an article or meme on Facebook bellyaching about team Trump, take a REAL action. Email an elected official or the White House.
Twitter has gone on record, saying it would consider banning him if he violated their terms of service re: abuse. Hold them to that.
Make a pledge now to volunteer for a 2018 campaign. Keep that pledge.
VISIT your Congressional office. If it’s the GOP, dress up be polite, wear a flag pin and tell them to uphold family values. If it’s on the Democratic side, TALK to the staff, ask them what they need YOU to do to get involved, and tell them you are willing to help.
KEEP AN ACTIVIST DIARY: Sure, we are mad as hell now, but we won’t be as mad in 6 months, so record all your actions. When you see yourself slacking off (oops, no entries for a month), get back on the email/phone/letter writing horse.
ON ISSUES YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT: Don’t just call your GOP Senator, ask to speak to the staff person who handles that issue. Don’t just rant at them, engage in actual conversation. Try to be persuasive.
Concerned about climate change? Write a letter and call your local tv station and tell them you’d like your weatherman/woman to incorporate climate change into the weather coverage.

It’s non-profit, bipartisan, user-friendly and well designed. Check it out and consider making a donation to support it.
Make sure everyone you know has photo i.d. and is registered to vote. If they don’t have government issued photo i.d. take them to a place where they can obtain the required documentation.
Thank the journalists and public officials who investigate, criticize and stand up to Trump. We need to give each other support and moral courage in the face of this authoritarian liar who tries to escape accountability at every turn.
Don’t waste time arguing online with right-wing trolls/Trumpets. If you’re never going to convince them to change their minds, spend the time instead working to reach out to those persuadables in the middle, or helping to mobilize those already on our side.
If you find yourself trapped (say, at a family holiday dinner) by “fact deniers” who spew nonsense, don’t get mad, just make sure to “out-jackass” them. When they say “President Obama was born in Kenya”, respond with, “oh yeah, well Trump is a lizard wearing a human skin suit! His birth certificate is forged!” When they say (without any evidence) “Trump actually won the popular vote if you exclude the 3 million illegals who voted for him!” You respond, “No, Trump lost even bigger when you exclude the 7 million unicorns who voted for him!” You’re never going to convince the fact-deniers anyway, so you might as well have some fun making them try to argue with absurdity for a change.
Spread the word about the massive turnout for the “Women’s March on Washington“.
Tired of seeing Trump? This Chrome extension will turn pictures of Trump into pictures of kittens.
When you get one of those group emails spouting some wildly nonsensical right-wing lie, check out Snopes, find the evidence to refute it, and politely “reply all” with it. Odds are the knucklehead who sent it won’t care about actual facts, but even if you convince a few others on the thread that the message was BS, that’s worth it.
Follow the Onion, and keep an eye out for its satirical takes on Trump’s nuttery. And then share the heck out of them. Humor can be a powerful way to pierce the veneer of cynicism people have when it comes to politics, and to get your message through. And many people who might not respond to a straightforward argument might “get” this approach better.
Join a union. Or a church. Or both. Help to build networks that can foster progressive change, and enable you to make connections with those who may not agree with us now, but who are potentially persuadable.

The “POTUS” Twitter handle switches from Obama to Trump on January 20th. A good day to unfollow it, or flood it with “Delete your account” messages.
Share Trump spoofs from SNL. One, because they really annoy him, but more importantly, because they show him as the buffoon he is, helping reduce his approval (remember what they did for Sarah Palin)
Urge your state to follow California’s lead, and insist that presidential candidates release their tax returns if they want to be on the 2020 ballot.
Trump lied when he said Mexico would pay for a border wall — so tell him if he wants a wall, he should pay for it himself, not with tax dollars.

When people refer to him as “POTUS”, respond by calling him “PEE-TUS”. It’ll drive them crazy.
Remind people again and again that Trump’s inaugural crowd was waaaaaaaaaay lower than Obama’s. It drives them crazy.
Speaking of crazy, meet Sean Spicer, Trump’s spokesman and a liar of epically comical proportions. Make sure to mock him accordingly.
Don’t just preach to the choir — get to know people who voted for Trump, and try to (politely) convince them to do otherwise if he runs again in 2020. We’re not going to win them all over, but if we swing even 1%, that could make the difference.
(Stay tuned, we’ll be adding more as we build towards the 99 ways)
were there any signs expressing outrage about the treatment of women in Saudi Arabia, ya know, the country where women are treated like animals, and the country in which Hillary arranged weapons sales to, in connection with a large donation to the Clinton Foundation?
I guess those women don't matter because they are brown.
Sorry to rain on the parade, as i love women, but the hypocrisy is breathtaking
um...what truth is that? The treatment of women in SA has nothing to do with resistance to Trump around the world yesterday? Trump is the US prez not the king of SA.
Also, plenty of comment and condemnation of women"s abuse and lack of rights in those areas of the world by the likes of HRC, Michelle Obama, and many, many others.
Arms sales are another issue and I would certainly support an end to all arms sales and would support the US out of the Middle East including Israel.
ok, i'm not here to argue, just wanted to express my frustration about the hypocrisy of mostly Hillary supporters at a women's rally, when those same women ignore Hillary's record when it comes to women.
i'm done, have a nice day everyone, sorry if i upset anyone
<seriously dude, move along and take your conspiracy shit and Hillary hating with you>
funny, Emily and i hung out with you a few times at shows, and we got along fine. I have never insulted you or called you names, unfortunately you cannot claim the same.
It's ok though, i ain't going anywhere and will say and do as i please, sorry..
Can't say that I know who the hell you are, Lassen, other than an ignorant fool and conpiracy nutjob on this black screen. Please don't drag Emily into this.
If she's your friend, lucky for you.
Yes, fishycane Yesterday's March was the beginning of the Trump resistance movement - women are coming together to protect our hard fought rights and further human rights - all at risk by a Trump Admin.
What really matters is who among the marchers does the hard work of following up with action. If 5-10% do, there will be quite an organized resistance to achieve more tangible results
so, maybe this movement should have taken place before the election? everyone just seemed to sit back and watch the election trainwreck take place and then acted mortified that it did
Lassen No Treble No Trouble if you drive a vehicle, have you done your part for the women of SA by selling it and buying a fully electric vehicle so as to not use any fuel from SA?

NBC appears to be using the word "falsehood" instead of the word "lie". On the first presser: "you guys ran Spicer out there and he said 5 things, 4 of which were falsehoods".
Of course, as we all now know, Kellyanne, who was just appointed Ambassador of New Word Creation and she hath proclaimed that lies shall now be known as "alternate facts". Nothing to see here, move along folks. Lookaway if you must.
>>>Weather this storm and wait for the inevitable pendulum swing back.
Will agree with this, One question, it has been overcast and rainy from the day Obama left the whitehouse, just how long is this no sunshine weather going to last? Speaking of storms, should we all invest in raincoat stock? London Fog on the up and up.
Seriously though we need an alternate positive voice to stand up NOW, if its Bernie so be it, i'm ready to throw in for Bernie as a voice of hope and reason. He was the only one to really drill the new epa appointee btw.
One of the women in my local resilience/resistance group created this Wiki page about the March. Just in case anyone wants a better understanding of why millions of people were marching..
I went to the Women’s March in Washington on Saturday. It was glorious, I’m still high from the experience. Two thoughts:
1. The question is sometimes raised, “what good do demonstrations do?” Especially one’s like this, that cover a whole range of issues; i.e. broad target and focus. I’d respond based on Saturday (and past experiences) that these kinds of demonstrations are sometimes not as much about one specific issue but about solidarity and affirmation. They allow participants to actually see one another–very different than online–and to confirm common hopes and concerns: we are here, there are a LOT of us, we are not going away. We vote!
(I fully expect that resistance around specific issues will follow, and will be re-watching "Eyes on The Prize" for tactical lessons!)
2. There was a LOT of humor in this march. I don’t know if this was because there was less testosterone, but it’s a super effective tactic. Comedians and comics can say things that break the ice and are acceptable where blunt angry statements hit walls. There were so many hilarious signs- a huge part of the experience was laughter and smiles. A resistance with laughs is irresistible.
I attended the Birmingham march. Good times were had by all at our peaceful expression of 1st amendment rights. I was really impressed by how many people showed up in a largely red state. 5000+ marched in the streets to the 16th st baptist church in our new civil right national monument. I even helped make my girlfriends sign... :)
Between 8 and 10,000 people showed up on a snowy and chilly Monday afternoon. Check out the video at that link.
They chanted "We won't go away, welcome to your first day". With a packed rotunda with 6,000 people inside, legislators had to speak directly into their mics to be heard inside closed chambers over the crowds in the building.
The march in Park City during Sundance on Saturday had around 5,000 people speaking out. That coincided with a clean air rally in SLC at the Capitol scheduled months ago.
Rallies Against Trump’s ‘Swamp Cabinet’ Planned Across The U.S.
After the success of the worldwide Women’s Marches this weekend, activists are planning another wave of demonstrations against President Donald Trump. Protesters across the country are expected to gather at the state offices of their members of Congress on Tuesday in an effort to stop the Senate from confirming several of Trump’s Cabinet picks.
More than 100 “Stop Trump’s #SwampCabinet” demonstrations are planned in at least 35 states and will target dozens of senators and representatives, both Democratic and Republican. (The complete list of events can be found here.)
The nationwide protest is being led by liberal activist organization MoveOn.org, progressive grassroots advocacy group People’s Action and the Working Families Party.
Actually, MARK you are the only one asking..demanding it, so if we're going to be yelling demands at one another I demand you change your tone and just leave me the fuck alone.
Now if you're a moderator or Admin here, do what you feel is necessary but otherwise STFU about telling me where I can and can't post.
>> big, loud protest has formed out of nowhere at JFK Airport's Terminal 4 in NYC! Hundreds have shown up to join them to protest Trump's racist Muslim ban. Inside, Homeland Security has detained people because of their religion or because they come from a Muslim-majority country. Some of those detained have an American Green Card! Do you want to let Trump take us to war against the entire Muslim world? Because that's where this is heading, my friends. Who here wants to die for Donald J. Trump? Please - if u are in the New York area, stop what you're doing right now and head to JFK Terminal 4. If you live near other cities with International airports, go there and do the same. Let's jam these airports immediately! Spread the word! #NoMuslimBanJFK
A petition posted on the White House web site calling for Trump to release his taxes has received more signatures than any other petition in the system’s five-year history. As of Thursday it had amassed 476,000 signatures.
Anyone who hasn't signed the petition may want to give it a try. Why would any President fear the outcome of releasing his tax info?
"A Women’s March group is canceling its January rally in Humboldt County, Calif., over concerns that its participants would be “overwhelmingly white.”
The decision comes amid division and tension in the broader Women’s March movement, which has unified millions of women and men in protest in the past two years.
Organizers of the 2019 Eureka Women’s March, originally scheduled for Jan. 19, said in a statement Friday that the decision came after numerous conversations with leading local activists and supporters of the march.
“Up to this point, the participants have been overwhelmingly white, lacking representation from several perspectives in our community,” the Facebook statement read. “Instead of pushing forward with crucial voices absent, the organizing team will take time for more outreach.”"
nobody wishes trump would catch a bullet more than me, but ill take trump over bush any day of the week. the whole trump hysteria and making everything about trump confuses me when so many sat silent as our country destabilized an entire region and killed thousands. i can handle the drama for another couple years if we can just not do something like that again.

Steve Jaxon's odd angled
Steve Jaxon's odd angled picture of SR march reflected in the courthouse windows. The street directly out in front of the courthouse was cordoned off with sawhorse roadblocks. The entire down town square has been under construction for a few months, so there's no really central spot to the march to listen to the speakers. The crowd goes shoulder to shoulder around several blocks, surrounding the down town plaza rather than gathering in it. People were also filling up the parking garages overlooking to get a better view out of the rain.

100,000 people showed up for the march in PDX today - three times the number they expected and the biggest public gathering in the state's history. We tried taking the light rail down, but after four trains pulled up and went by completely packed, we ended up driving down.

Nod's link is so disturbing,
Nod's link is so disturbing, although probably not as disturbing as what the troll posed above - not that I'd open it.

Dan Rather
Dan Rather

>>99 Ways to Fight Trump
Do one. Do them all. But do something.
99 Ways to Fight Trump:
Stop by daily for more actions as we build to 99:
Don’t just complain to your friends, let Congress know how you feel. Often. When you disagree with them AND when you agree. Write Reps here & Senators here.
Tell state legislatures it’s time to get rid of the Electoral College. We can make it happen, and we can do it without a Constitutional amendment, through an innovative approach known as the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
Call Congress: (202)225-3121 will connect you to any member
Donate to the ACLU, and help them fight back to defend our freedom.
Share this post. Tons of people are looking for a way to fight back, and need specific guidance.
Run for office. School board, local council, dog catcher, etc. Perilously few good people are doing this, and some frighteningly stupid people are winning as a result. (If you’re a young woman interested in running, check out Running Start)
If you are calling to push Congress to investigate Trump’s shady business deals, say “Congress has a moral responsibility to do this”. Quote the Bible, it carries weight with these gents.
Tell your Senators to support Boxer’s bill to end the Electoral College.
Don’t be a free press freeloader, part 1. GIVE your $$$ to the NY Times and the Washington Post. Pay for the premium subscriptions.
Don’t be a free press freeloader, part 2: GIVE to National Public Radio (NPR).
Keep up with new actions as they are posted, take them, and spread them.
Tell your slacktivist friends to put up or shut up. You know ’em. The friend who comes to dinner and kvetches about the world but has never made a phone call, sent an email, donated or volunteered on a campaign or written a letter to the editor. If you aren’t willing to act you aren’t permitted to complain.
Help this horse’s ass get more FB fans than Trump
Feeling rage? Then “rage donate” to your favorite Trump-fighting organizations.
Tell Democratic Senators to block all of Trump’s Supreme Court picks. They can do it, as long as the filibuster is still in place. Republicans blocked Obama’s pick, so if that’s how they want to play, game on.
Pledge to volunteer 306 hours over Trump’s term to fight back against Trump’s message of anger and division.
Join your local Democratic organization. If there isn’t one, start one!
Make a donation to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors and legally fights hate groups all over the country.
Track what your state legislature is doing. Support the bills you like, and fight the bills that need to be stopped.
Make a pledge to BuyOutTrump.com, and try to convince Trump to retire before he takes office.
Check out Wall of Us for “4 concrete acts of resistance a week”
Keep abreast with the latest Trump corruption with Corrupt.af
Are you an American living in another country? Join Democrats Abroad
Set a weekly recurring “take action” appointment in your Outlook/Google/other calendar. Then come here and take at least one action.
Add the phone numbers for your elected officials to your phone contacts, so you can speed dial them when you want to praise them or complain to them.
Voice your opinion about the conflict of interest inherent in Trump’s being executive producer of Celebrity Apprentice for NBC that is supposed to be reporting on him in an unbiased manner. There’s a online contact form for that: http://www.nbc.com/contact-us
When buying gifts for those you love that “have everything”, either 1) make a donation to an organization that supports issues important to you (and hopefully your gift recipient) from ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center to FreePress, NPR, NRDC, WWF, etc. or 2) buy them a subscription to help support a free, independent press such as the NY Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, etc.
A great site for tracking legislation, getting contact info for Congressmen/women or looking up their voting records, and finding out who’s on what committee is http://www.govtrack.us.
Keep reminding Trump and Trump supporters that he lost the popular vote, and that he does not have anything close to a “mandate.” There’s a reason this bothers him so much.
Check out the 2020 election countdown clock every now and then, to remind yourself his term won’t last forever — and keep you sane.
Or, keep an eye on the Trump Countdown Clock, and see how many days are left until a new president is inaugurated in 2021.
Donate to the Environmental Defense Fund, and help them fight back against Trump’s team of climate deniers.

Follow the story re: Trump and Russian interference in the election. This could heat up a lot as more shoes drop.
Shop against Trump. Make your dollars work against him.
Use the hashtag #GoldenGate. It’ll drive them crazy.
Share these photos
Show your support for impeachment. He’s earned it.
These are pictures that Trump apparently hates, and doesn’t want people to share. You know what to do.
Start saving $10 a week right now for the 2018 mid-term election, and then donate it to your favorite Democratic Congressional candidates once they are chosen.
Better yet, start donating to It Starts Today, and have them do it for you!
Support Rep. Jamie Raskin, and his call for impeachment
We’re not going to win them all over, but if we swing even 1%, that could make the difference.

um...what truth is that? The treatment of women in SA has nothing to do with resistance to Trump around the world yesterday? Trump is the US prez not the king of SA.
Also, plenty of comment and condemnation of women"s abuse and lack of rights in those areas of the world by the likes of HRC, Michelle Obama, and many, many others.
Arms sales are another issue and I would certainly support an end to all arms sales and would support the US out of the Middle East including Israel.

"These are not normal times.
The press has never seen anything like this before. The public has never seen anything like this before. And the political leaders of both parties have never seen anything like this before.
What can we do? We can all step up and say simply and without equivocation. "A lie, is a lie, is a lie!" And if someone won't say it, those of us who know that there is such a thing as the truth must do whatever is in our power to diminish the liar's malignant reach into our society."

I believe Trump will do more for our democracy in four years by accident than the Clinton's could have accomplished in 8.
Not through his policies, but through getting the ire of he public and getting people to get involved.
I think we will see an ownership of the government by the people in ways that have never been seen before.
Having Baby Huey at the top will redefine how we interact with government and the struggle will ultimately be good for the health of our democracy.

From David Byrne:
From David Byrne:

Salt Lakers had their rally today (hey it's Utah - we're always behind), They represented big-time. It was the first day of the legislative session. http://www.sltrib.com/home/4853488-155/womens-march-on-utah-capitol-will...

And
And
>> big, loud protest has formed out of nowhere at JFK Airport's Terminal 4 in NYC!

The last paragraph from that article:
A petition posted on the White House web site calling for Trump to release his taxes has received more signatures than any other petition in the system’s five-year history. As of Thursday it had amassed 476,000 signatures.
Anyone who hasn't signed the petition may want to give it a try. Why would any President fear the outcome of releasing his tax info?

And after losing a couple pounds the marchers might feel better about themselves and be less angry and hateful...
Just by listening to some of the vile and vulgar speeches and some of those nasty signs many of these women and men have big time anger issues..
so march your little hearts out.

Women's March in California
Women's March in California canceled over concerns it would be 'overwhelmingly white'
https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2018/12/30/california-womens-mar...

Let's keep the Orange one alive for a myriad of reasons.
Humboldt seems to be at war with themselves.
I'm glad the march goes on.
