Rolling Stones in Rockford Illinois 1981 by petition

Forums:

I lived in Rockford from 74-79 after my Dad's job took him there after living in Canoga Park, Ca. in the 60's and early 70's. The local radio station started a drive to get people to sign a petition to get the Stones to play there. The Stones seccumbed. When my dads job took us to MD in 79 that's where I discovered the GD and became hooked.

I left a '72 transporter in rockford after the poplar creek jgb show.

T..O.D where did you leave it?

Just kidding as your probably full of it and will die a liar.. I saw a few concerts at Rockford Speedway in the late 70's as I lived a few miles awayand walked to them.

>>I lived in Rockford from 74-79

I'm sorry.

My folks lived in Saint Charles, just down the Fox River a short drive. Saint Charles and Geneva.. two nice towns.

I use to buy camera gear online from Canoga camera.
I always wanted to get to the state park, Rock Cut, I think outside of Rockford with my mountain bike.
I've worked at the Byron nuclear plant just down the road.

I lived right across the street from Rock Cut State Park. And living in Rockford then was great. Cheap Trick is from there. The winters suck.

My first rock concert was at Rockford Speedway. 1979 Nugent, Nazereth, Jay Ferguson, Off Broadway.

Damn cornbread! I was there. Memorial Day 1979. We lived 2 miles away across the street from RCSP and walked there. Did you see REO, The Cars and others in August 79 there. They had great shows there in the 70's. Rockford didn't suck 4winds.

Where did you go to school?

Did you see the 4th of July show 1979 with Cheap Trick, AC/DC,Molly Hatchet,The Babies and someone else? AC/DC ruled!

That was the only show I saw there but I remember hearing of those other shows and wanting to go.

Somehow me and my sister managed to convince our parents to drive us and a couple friends there from naperville and pick us up after the show. Or maybe that was the only way they allowed us to go, if they drove us. lol.
