Love Gloria Jones. Saw my first JGB show in May of '83. Thanks.

I realize the above ticket isn't the BH show you were talking about, but I have wondered about that venue and the scene there.

Memories of the Beverly Theatre Doolittle? And I know he played a few meltdown shows at the County Club, any insight into

what that place was like would be great.

Fuck, they demolished the place in '88 to literally "put up a parking lot."

Beverly Hills was not psyched with that developer....

JGB played the Country Club 2 times in 82. Once in 83 and once in 84. Saw them all. Bobby played there a bunch in the 80's with the Midnites and other members have played there. I saw Go Ahead there around 85/86. THe place was a small club that held 1000 with tables and chairs and a small upper balcony. They served food and drinks. The first show in 82 was the debut of DeeDee Dickerson and Jacklyn LaBranch. Definitely my favorite place I saw JGB until he grew out of the place.  All years were good but 84 is my favorite. The Country Club was eventually turned into a church. It has a huge music history with almost everyone playing there as it was in L.A,

My memories of the Beverly Theatre are not so clear. It was just a theatre with a balcony like all. 85 was a historical day in Jerry history when he and Kahn only played a short set and the audience wouldn't put up with it and leave as there was a late show too. They were chanting bullshit until Jerry came back on for some more songs!

As far as scene. Don't remember much of a scene there. I just showed up and went in.

Sugaree at the Country Club. Best JGB Sugaree IMHO. Maybe GD too.

I do remember getting Mikel stuff at shows there like his flyer from fall 82 which I still have.

And there was no shakedown street at any Jerry show I saw or remember in the early 80's . Just fans waiting to get in. Maybe a few people selling stuff. At least on the west coast that I remember.

Thanks man. I also think that's the best Sugaree I've ever heard. I was blown away the first time I heard it; there is a great description of it on that Sugarmegs site.

Yes, no scene outside the East Coast shows at that time either, pretty low-key.

I had read about that BH show where people were super pissed and then Garcia seemed irritated that he was "forced" to go back out for a few more songs.

Someone who was at the Santa Cruz show at the Catalyst the same year ('85) said about the same thing. (Short). I guess she knew someone who worked

there and they let her backstage. She goes, "they were back there smoking cocaine when they should have been playing!"

Cool deal, it's too bad they had to stop playing the Country Club, it sounds like some serious fun went down there.

Nice photo from '82. (First year I saw the GD).

The funny shit is I saw JGB at Irvine Meadows in 84 2 days before the Country Club show and Irvine holds maybe 15.000 people and Reseda was 1000. No way he was ready for Irvine in 84. Maybe out east he could have filled it but Cali, noway. Curious as to why he chose to play there.

And the JGB show in October 82 in L.A. was the first show Jerry played L.A, area since 79 solo without the GD. More than 3 years according to his tour history.

AND MY BROTHER KERRY WHO DIED JUNE 26 WAS WITH ME AT THAT 84 SHOW. i GAVE HIM HIS ONLY HIT HE EVER TOOK..

The waitressess in leather and bouncers were grovving and in awe of Jerry this night! The 4th continuous show in a row with Hunter opening. An epic run for 84. 84 maybe my favorite year of shows I saw
