Marcus King Band

Good Morning!

Has anybody seen them live? I have not checked into their music yet, but have heard a couple people say I should check them out. Looks like they will be in my area in January. I guess I will head over to the youtube and have a listen.

Have not seen them live, but i think it was Bonnaroo (last year?) where i found myself watching them on a stream, saying, "who the hell are these guys??"

In a good way...

Go to the show, as a friend would say

They're awesome.  Marcus is a great guitar player.  Check them out.

Funny was going to start a thread about MKB and you have one listed already. Saw them Dec 2, he is a child prodigy and is a monster on guitar and has a soulful southern voice.

Put the show I recorded on LL and Dime and its on IA too.

Here is a video I took:

Would describe him as a young DT with a WH type of voice.

Go do not look back.

Nice Patrick.

I was going to post this link to a SBD matrix from Durango.

Slick - that show from durango taped by billydee and skaggs is the first audio I listened too and then starting watching video before going to the fox. Also contacted Billydee for band email. Was going to email you due to they played SLC the next day and see if you were available to go or any one from the Utah crew though got caught up in the day and ended up not doing it. Only found the new Zone yesterday or would of posted something about it.

Was going to post the tour though the format is messed up on the zone. He plays the east cost and southern US through early feb.

Did anyone go from the Utah crew?

I went. The amazing Jen was thinking 'bout it but she's been sooo consumed by other things lately and didn't make it. That girl has such a BIG heart.

I had started a MKB thread on the PZ before the show asking about them and got advised to go. When the venue dropped the price to $5, it made it a no-brainer. Even I could figure that one out.

I thought they were good but I have to admit there were times I thought they needed a little more cohesion or something. Songs sometimes seemed a little choppy. The sound may have been too loud for our small venue and may have been echoing which hurt the clarity a little. I look forward to listening to the shows again to see if I feel the same on a second listen.

Their first time in SLC, not their last.

I posted his website and a link to his tour schedule on the day after the show on the PZ before it closed.

Agreed. Not sure his band matched his talent.

The Fox recording came out pretty good. It was very loud at the show and there was a heavy amount of low end on the recording. Between the B3, bass and drums a lot was going on and hard to pick out each instrument and lacked clarity as you mentioned. Almost full on - turn it up and jam, had a hard time mastering that show due to the way it sounded. Usually the fox is very good sounding. Though he is only 20 and still forming his sound. Wonder what DT sounded like at 20...

marcus plays nectars next week, 26th.

Holy shit! Just saw him Tuesday night in Portland, Maine. Opened for Eric Krasno band.

Marcus King was amazing! Such great, soulful playing & singing. And someone told me the kid is 20? Fuck, he's going places.
