Hurricane Laura

Forums:

We are short of two hundred miles from the coast. The storm is predicted to be still a Cat 1 when it hits us Thursday with predicted 75 sustained and 90 mph gusts.

Sense of adventure is high.

What state are you in, Jazfish? I imagine you're well prepared?

Thanks for asking, LLLOOOLLO. Northwest Louisiana,  Bossier Parish.

This far inland. Rare.

Smaller storm with a punch and also predicted to move fast. It'll take a left in Arkansas and rain to the east coast.

Wow, have never been to that part of Louisiana. Stay safe!

Sending calming vibes your way....possible 4 when it makes landfall.

Not a fan of cane season

Stay safe

Hang in there guys.  Seems like there has been a lot of hurricanes this year.

I lived in East Texas for about three years more than a decade ago. Used to have to drive into Caddo Parish for booze, but it was only like 20 minutes from my house. Keep safe, dude

Oh My God

Hope all stay safe 145mph winds Damn

Hoping you, your family and friends stay safe, Jaz.

Where's Noodler with the illustrations?

(the satellite I like to use was down last night / this morning, but it's back up now)

Damn. I hate hurricanes. Be safe.

Live stream from Lake Charles while it lasts. The person who set it up is safe in Dallas.

Fuuuuuuuck. BE Safe Peeps!!!

83mph sustained with 119mph wind gust just east of the eyewall as it makes landfall

LCH_loop-4.gif

Hope all is well with Jazz and his Louisiana neighbors.

Weather Channel was reporting some very scary and real comments.

Laura is one eerie bitch

Hey, all. I hope yer safe! Much love.

I'm a Senior Water Plant operator.  Essential.

Made it to work. We are getting 70 mph gusts now and will intensify during the day 5hen will fizz out.

Sense of adventure is high now.

Get back later.

WILD!

Be safe at work.   Glad the winds are down to 70 but that still seems level ridiculous.

Hold on tight.

best wishes jaz, hang in there

Hope your water plant stays functional Jaz.  Good luck.

((((((((ESSENTIAL WORKERS)))))))

It's gone now. Quite exciting for a while. All systems up and running.

Thanks y'all.

Hooray.   Glad you made it!

So what happened with the storm surge?   From what I see on the interwebs, most of the damage was from wind.   I was expecting Lake Charles to be flooded, but it appears from what I have seen that it thankfully didn't happen.

Jazz picture - look at the telephone pole in the background, an army of linesmen and tree cutters are on their way.

After a run of really tolerable weather,  we're getting some Lousiana murk in Jerseyland.  Tentacles of your Laura brought up Heat and Humidity.  Up in the low 90's today and Muggy.

Glad your region didn't get slammed too bad Jaz.
Best of luck running the Plant,  stay safe.

Hey Jazfish - glad you're ok.

They initially thought Laura would come ashore as barely a Cat 1, but it super accelerated over the Gulf to just shy of a Cat 5.   Wonder what No. 19 will do?
