I’ll never understand how some people assume every opinion they have is also good politics. I’m a militant atheist. I think religion should be stamped out of the public square. I could argue with you about why I’m right for hours. It would still obviously be horrible politics. 

You can believe something strongly and still make peace with the fact that most of the country disagrees with you. And understand that means you’re probably not going to get your way. And not pretend like whatever person in a political party (ahem Pelosi, Biden) who disagrees with you and takes the more mainstream position is an awful idiot coming to their position in bad faith.

i'd like to see a 3rd major party evolve. one that represents the people. 

it's clear the dem establishment cant be changed, refuses to listen to what the people want, and puts corporations ahead of their constituents. 

trump and the gop is evil, the dems enables them, and legitimizes their evil policy/ways -- see the obama admin. 

the next fake populist the GOP chooses to line up behind will be worse than trump, and the establishment dems will

have already begun to legitimize what trump has done in the past as they call the new monster worse than ever before.

I'd like to see a law passed that forces all elected officials to renounce any party membership or affiliation once elected to office. Tough shit you now represent the American people, so start behaving that way or you are arrested for treason.  AND, any campaign for a consecutive term must also be held to the same standard.  Fuck your one party system with two faces.

Falwell says he's resigning from Liberty because he doesn't want to embarrass the school but quotes MLK and says he's "free at last" and ready for something new. "Unfortunately some people are not as forgiving as Christ,"

And now the pool boy says Jerry sent him pictures of nude Liberty University students that were at Jerry's  farm. I'm sure the parents of that girl are going to be so happy. 

Can we just call him "Falwell" instead of "Jerry"?

In his new book Cohen finally admits that the cuckold photographs were the lever for the endorsement. He claims – and I think this is entirely plausible – that he didn’t have to explicitly threaten to out the Falwells. To put it in Trumpian terms, when you’ve got the photos, they let you do it.

We now know, inasmuch as there was any continuing doubt, that the alliance between Donald Trump and evangelical Christianity was birthed in an extortion plot in which Trump and his fixer, Michael Cohen, called in their favor for keeping the Falwells’ swinger lifestyle out of the tabloids.

“It was no quid pro quo,” Falwell told Reuters, using a new-infamous phrase from Trump’s impeachment. “There was no me supporting Trump because of whatever Michael was doing.”

He added that he endorsed Trump because he “believed that a businessman needed to run this country.”

At that point in the conversation, Falwell’s wife, Becki, apparently caught wind of whom her beleaguered husband was talking to on the phone.

“Hang up the goddamn phone,” she could be heard telling her husband, according to Reuters. “Hang up the phone, Jerry!”
