You will have to vote in person. That is what it has come to. If the in-person vote count is close on election night Trump will invalidate all the mail in ballots that can take days to count. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they are ready to burn down the buildings where they are.

trump CAN'T invalidate
trump CAN'T invalidate ballots just by tweeting it, much as he'd like to. He has no power to alter the election laws in any state.
But that doesn't mean we're safe, just means he can't do that. We'll see if he totally shuts down the post office to prevent mail votes, and in any state with a Republican governor -- well, they might be able to alter election laws or just fuck with the counting.

I am planning to vote by depositing my ballot in the ballot box a few blocks from my house. It's always a good walk and I see neighbors doing the same thing.
My congressman, Peter Defazio, is absolutely livid about the removal of mailboxes from Eugene and Portland. They are just piling them up as though they have no meaning. So fucked up.

Treat your ballot as if you
Treat your ballot as if you were mailing in for a Grateful Dead concert. Take it to the post office and tell them to postmark it in front of you.

My state (Kentucky) will
My state (Kentucky) will allow in-person voting starting in mid-October. This needs to happen everywhere, particularly the battleground states. Add in secure dropboxes throughout cities and you could have a massive amount of voting accounted for before Election Day.
I'm concerned people are going to fuck around, wait until the last minute mailing, and we're in limbo for a few days. That's what Trump wants. I want that bastard gone as soon as the west coast polls close Election NIght.

Early voting info for states. This is being updated daily; I imagine all states will expand in-person voting dates soon.
Vote early. And tell people to do the same.

We'll be taking our ballots
We'll be taking our ballots straight to a county drop box, since we live only 10-15 minutes from the county seat. If it's accessible on the weekend, we'll make an outing of it (there are TWO breweries in the county seat).

Taking your mail in ballot to
Taking your mail in ballot to the polling place isn't good enough. If you are able - you have to vote in person. Here is why.
In almost all states in person ballots are counted first and then mail in ballots. If you drop your mail in ballot at the polling place it goes into the mail in ballot pile and gets counted after the in person vote totals. On network TV what the results you see announced on the night of the election are mostly in person votes. If in person votes are close on election night Trump will declare victory and then do everything in his power to invalidate your mail in vote. That is why you need to vote in person. It has nothing to do with the mail.
In CA you can take your mail ballot that they send you to the polling place and trade it for an in person ballot. Not sure about the rest of the states.
That said it is still better to vote mail in than to not vote at all.

From a FB post this morning:
From a FB post this morning:
There is a work-around: 1. Request a mail-in ballot. 2. Do not mail it. 3. Google your supervisor of elections to see where you can drop off your mail-in ballot. Its usually NOT THE POLLING PLACE. All states allow this!
Here is what you're accomplishing by doing this: 1. You're not relying on the USPS to get your ballot in on time, so no matter what, your ballot gets in on time. 2. You don't have to worry about standing in long lines and risking infection. You're just stopping by to drop it off. 3. You still voted! Hooray!
Also, when you drop it off find out how to track it online to make sure it is verified. California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado have systems that can track your ballot just like tracking a package from Amazon.

Dropping a mail-in ballot at
Dropping a mail-in ballot at a polling place defeats the entire purpose of a mail-in ballot. But it is an option.
In NJ, an in-person vote will be considered provisional.
Mailed ballots can be tracked; the bullet-points don't mention tracking of ballots placed in drop boxes (minimum 10 per county).

The fact that mail in ballots
The fact that mail in ballots are counted after election day creates a huge opening for Trump to try and exploit if he "is winning" on election day. IMO, the only way to make 100% sure your vote will count is to suck it up, put on a mask and go to the polls and vote in person.
