Doubt this would work for, say, The Rolling Stones or U2, but for smaller bands, this seems to be the answer for outdoor concerts - as long as the weather holds. Come fall/winter, they'll have to figure out how do do it indoors.
As much as I'm against RFID at shows under "normal circumstances", I'd be in favor of this technology being used to ensure people don't stay into boxes other than their own. Security guard gets notified and you get warned or the boot.
Lloyd, we've had some successful similar, but smaller scale events in Woodbridge, NJ, most notably Richard Thompson which drew over 400 people. There were no mini-stages in each cubicle, but everone did get their own 10 ft x 10ft squares painted on the grass. You were not required to wear masks with your S. O, but only when going outside the boxes.

What, no sweaty dreadlocks
What, no sweaty dreadlocks whipping me in the face when spinning too close together?
No beer spillage on my clothes from those rushing to the rail?
No hilarious conversations to overhear?
Reduced opportunity for ground scores...
Meh.

Are you kidding?
Everyone in their own private little space, like VIP boxes?
Have you ever sat in or near VIP boxes at a concert?
They're all like little private parties, the yakking in a setting like that will be hooooooorible.
Still, that's better than nothing, although I like the cars with hangout space next to each car idea better.
