Covid in the hood

Forums:

First case on my block reported. Problem is he was helping out at the neighborhood day camp that his daughter was running for a group of kids. One kid's family returned from Florida last week so it's possible that the kid spread the virus. No matter, it's here and I've been socially distancing and wearing a mask outside - however the kids and their parents felt safe in their 'pod' - which is a joke since they've been taking vacations and seeing  people outside our neighborhood. It was inevitable that Covid would rear it's ugly head here, how's the spread in your immediate neighborhood?

PS

just dropped off some Ginger ale,  saltines and matzo ball  soup for my neighbor, his wife is away visiting her folks in Jersey and freaking out.

There was an outbreak of over 100 cases 3 weeks ago at the UW frat houses about 5 blocks away.  Most were asymptomatic and none of them required hospitalization.  I did not hear of any further community spread.  I have been opened for regular business hours for 7 weeks now.  I am around groups of random people daily in my store, at the post office, at the grocery store and running errands.  I am vigilant about wearing a mask, washing my hands and maintaining a distance.  Doing these things consistently makes me feel safe.  No need to be a shut-in.

Small town... lost 4 in two days within three blocks. Possibly more stunning was the newspaper announced 1 of those deaths and mentioned three others were admitted to the hospital and none were expected to make it through the night and none did.

Ugh, that's awful. Elderly people, Astro?

My son's boss and his bosses' partner had it, as well as my son's co-worker. It's just the three of them doing landscaping/gardens and this was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I had taken him to work 3 times the week before the news. We both tested negative. My wife and I mask and social distance but occasionally slip up with the kids (I have 2 sons she has a daughter). The boss picked it up in Jim Thorpe, PA and the co-worker picked it up at the DE beaches. We are in Northern DE. Very populated County. I'm high risk (59 with asthma/copd). My Philadelphia employer had brought back wave 1 management people some weeks back and  they were bringing back "cubicle" workers a couple weeks back, so I was in the process of getting a Doctors note when they threw everybody back to Work From Home a couple weeks ago (PA Governor Order). No other large employers in Philadelphia area were bringing people back...the Management of my employer are real "genuises". I'm now cleaning out my THC and heading into the job market..

Astro - where is your small town?

Can't remember where I got this, could have been here. I think it's real time.

303 cases

The family across the street caught the Covid back in March.  They must have been some of the first people in town to have it.  Don't think they had much as far as symptoms go, and they are all fine now.

My SO's sister caught it a couple of weeks ago.  She is a nurse up in Seattle, but doesn't think she got it at work, but instead visiting Leavenworth, which is a faux Bavarian village touristy place on the east side of the Cascades.  She has been tired, but otherwise has been doing ok.  Her youngest daughter lives with her and she tested negative.  Her oldest daughter is up in Seattle too and she is getting married next month.  They are doing a buffet style reception, the bride isn't wearing a mask, and sounds like there won't be much in the way of social distancing  Kids I tell you.   My SO has some risk factors so we are going to skip the wedding.

My 47 year old boss got it, although I've been working from home since the end of March. Dodgin' the 'rona, so far.

Shappy might want to use that risk assessment tool before announcing lineup for Lockn!  Nelson County, Va, pretty sure.

At least Zoner Jam's county is under 40%....as of today....

Is there a Hallmark card celebrating both your 10-year wedding anniversary and death remembrance of your in-laws and wedding guests?

we're doing pretty damn great in the city.  it's the rednecks and yokals who live east of the mountains who keep fucking it up for us.
