What is the trend in rates of hospitalization and deaths? Those numbers would be more telling because the increase in "confirmed" cases is largely due to expanded testing. Its was always assumed that the actual infection rates were up to 10 times the "confirmed" cases because of the lack of widespread testing.
I did some poking around on line and can answer my own question. In the US, it appears that deaths have been steadily decreasing from 2699 per day at the height of the pandemic to about 731 per day now.
>>>>Among the non-elderly, what is the % of people who will die and/or require hospitalization. Any data available?
Don't have that data, but there have been some big spikes in Oregon of confirmed cases largely due to workplace outbreaks that give us some idea. For example, at a seafood processing plant over on the coast, 125 workers tested positive. 95% did not have symptoms and no hospitalizations.
MLS and NBA will have no fans in attendance, they may allow some of the imported strippers and hookers watch thru a room with a glass window separating them though
Testing doesn't account for it in Texas and Florida which are still close to the bottom of the list for tests per million pop. Also I can't find it now but percent of people tested coming back positive is holding at about 5% in the south. If more testing was causing an increase in cases you would see that percentage drop.
Texas and Florida opened on the hope that Corona would be like flu and calm down in the summer. But once again not like flu.
The seven-day average of new cases per day is up 172 percent (742 to 2,016).
The average of daily tests is up 59 percent (18,119 to 28,865).
The average rate of positive tests is up 2.5 points. (4.6 to 7.1).
The average of deaths per day is down 16 percent (39 to 33).
Texas
From June 2 to June 16:
The seven-day average of new cases per day is up 61 percent (1,485 to 2,386).
The average of daily tests is up 22 percent (23,570 to 28,727).
The average rate of positive tests is up 2.5 points. (6.6 to 9.1).
The average of deaths per day is down 5 percent (26 to 24).
Oklahoma
From June 2 to June 16:
The seven-day average of new cases per day is up 131 percent (79 to 183). The average of daily tests is down 38 percent (6,388 to 3,966).
The average rate of positive tests is up 1.8 points. (29.3 to 31.1).
The average of deaths per day is down 53 percent (3 to 1).
New York
From June 2 to June 16:
The seven-day average of new cases per day is down 45 percent (1,316 to 724).
The average of daily tests is up 13 percent (56,243 to 63,701).
The average rate of positive tests is down 1.3 points. (2.4 to 1.1).
The average of deaths per day is down 38 percent (87 to 53).

That's good news on declining death rates in all those states. Not as large of a drop as in some countries, but a positive trend for sure. We always knew that the number of people who had this was much higher than the "confirmed" cases and that most people don't show symptoms or only have minor complications.
