Coffee - Black or full of crap?
Forums:
I never really overindulged or was too addicted to coffee even though I drank it every day, but now that I drink a lot less of it, and not regularly, I can only drink it black - I like to taste the coffee, even if it is a bit on the bitter side. (I don't do the coffee connoisseur thing... not that into it, but I try to buy relatively recently roasted beans and I use the grinder in the store).
But I can't take all the sweeteners and dairy (or dairy like) products that are basically intended to disguise the taste of the coffee. Why adulterate the drug?
I just watched one guy pour a friggin trashcan full of sugar in his and add a gallon of fake flavor! Can't be good for ya.

I was in Jamaica recently, and the Blue Mountain they served was fine just as it was. And people still dumped loads of crap into their cups. I'm sure they never even tasted the natural flavor of the beverage.

I drank my coffee black for
I drank my coffee black for years, and still will if the need arises.
Except for a de riguer cafe au lait at Cafe Du Monde on Jackson Square in New Orleans French Quarter (with beignets, of course, and pretty much the only time or place I take milk with my coffee), and a cup of Louisiana Visitor Center coffee I had at the Texas line, I have had no coffee for the last couple of years now. I still cheat on the caffeine with my current dark chocolate habit.
I drink herbal teas, now. I don't mind a little honey, but lately have just gotten into the taste of a perfectly steeped tea, unadorned.

Very aromatic. The smell is
Very aromatic. The smell is often more intense than other beans. It is a wet processed coffee which means the beans dry in the sun which gives it that super floral aroma. The taste is clean and really fresh and is never bitter. Medium roast - but not on the light side of medium. Definitely up there with the best Blue Mountain and Kona - but generally less expensive than either. If you groove on the smell as much as the taste of coffee - yirgacheffe has it all covered.
If you are going to put a bunch of "crap" into the coffee - than don't spend the money on it. If you drink your coffee black - then it is certainly worth the price of admission.

at home i drink a double strength, pour over peet's with almond milk and a level teaspoon of sugar.

Does OP also hate vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake? I love vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake. Similarly, I like a small splash of half and half with my coffee (Peet's or similar quality only, please). To me they are two awesome tasting complimentary flavors.
And while I love coffee, both for the flavor and the druggo affect, it makes me aggro if I drink it for more than a couple days in a row (same with booze).... I think my liver is super pissed at me, so I've been giving it a break from both (and feeling a TON better overall).
