I'm nostalgic for the simpler, olden days

Forums:

When the most divisive topics were things like,

Bobby or Phil set list

I love or hate...Ryan Adams/Jackie Greene/Kadlecik

The Deader Than Thou Wars

sigh

Bring it saddler

Never got JK

But he was pretty good with "JGB" be a couple months back

>>>I'm nostalgic for the simpler, olden days

Damn, who isn't? I remember hugging people and going to see music and having music parties in a living room.

i remember some pretty crazy threads alongside those ones in those days

you guys made ryan adams cry, and im pretty sure all it took for total lizard brain devolution at one point was some guy getting left in a parking lot

SOME guy?!?!?!?!

That wasn't SOME guy!

If he was here he'd tell you himself.

I do miss Timmy dogging Bucky about the miracle elbow.

Ah, the Ryan Adams Zoner wars.  When we were young and foolish & didn't know any better.

The Phil vs. Bob stuff was fun.  Now folks just want to make big kerfufels about autocrats, pandemics & racism.  Yawn.

Since I read the subject of this thread I keep thinking of Ford vs Chevy, Coke vs Pepsi, you know, that kind of stuff. Strange, since I've never had a Ford or Chevy, and very few Cokes (and even fewer Pepsi's). None of that matters to me, but PZ does matter!

And yeah, Mike would have told you himself, over and over.

>>>over and over<<<

Yes, but with panache.

Yep.

Would be good to open BAM or the Pink Pages and see this ad.....

And yes, the Mike Bethel parking lot episode will always be a wonderful piece of Zoner lore....

I went to that Styx show. They were still good then (and I was young), but my friends hadn't convinced me yet to see the Grateful Dead.

Too bad for me.

Playing in those funky little places?

Sigh.

I like JK...especially when he played solo with his cat and Jay Lane.

He got pissed as fuck when I called him Fake Jerry

Good times

When the vial was dusty but the liquid was clean.

I'm kind of nostalgic for tomorrow. It looks like it could be a good one.

nobody is able to play for their lives right now, really fucked up...

Perhaps the wrong choice of words I kind of feel a little melancholy in a happy way the Hep C folder is not active.

So many damn Phine Pholks cured.

It's a good thing.

This thread piqued my nostalgic side.  (yes I napped during grammar class).  I thought of this Lovely lyric --

"...Gone are the days,  we stopped to decide
Where we should go
We just Ride

Gone are the broken eyes we saw through in dreams
Gone - both dream and lie

Life may be sweeter for this,  I don't know
Feels like it might be alright
While Lady Lullaby sings plainly for you,
Love still rings true..."

Then I reminisced of the time that Jersey City councilman got in a wee bit of trouble.
Urine falls like crazy fingers.

https://www.nj.com/news/2008/11/jersey_city_councilman_arreste.html

"...A "source" told The Daily News that Lipski was "very drunk," and said it wasn't the first time he acted up at the nightspot.

"We've dealt with this man before," the source is quoted saying. "He's never peed on anybody, but he gets really belligerent and drunk."

We just don't have hilarity like that anymore these days.  Polkiticians peeing off the balcony at DSO shows,  wonder what ever happened to that guy.  Did he keep his Councilman job?  Banned from DSO shows ?

Nostalgia ?  chumps already got us back into the 60's with the civil unrest, not far back enough tho,  t rumpers yearn for the 40's n 50's, the simple older days when lynchings were still en vogue.

You can't go home again.

nobody is able to play for their lives right now,

PRIME TIME

"VIP" was wiped out in one fell swoop ... is there not something nostalgic about that?

and im pretty sure all it took for total lizard brain devolution at one point was some guy getting left in a parking lot

Try as I may to forget, "Left for dead" will always be a part of the Zoner shared experience. Funny thing is that 2 people there, myself being one of them, tried to fill in a few facts that weren't quite right to both parties stories. Nobody paid attention proving the old adage of "Never let facts get in the way of a good story."

"...fill in a few facts that weren't quite right to both parties stories..."

Basically you're insinuating that the Jersey City councilman might have peed off the balcony,  but it was fake pee ?
I've never really followed up to see how that incident affected his career.

Maybe it was fake pee,  or just a misunderstanding.

Sometimes one's prayers are answered. A Grateful Dean mention can do that.

Bump

100% agreed with the OP. The political zone of old and Viva have always been so fucking boring. Just a big circle jerk that never goes anywhere.

>>>>Polkiticians peeing off the balcony at DSO shows,  wonder what ever happened to that guy.

Poked around on Google and saw that he declined to run for another term on the city council, but went on to be a high school assistant principal and he and his wife are still heavily involved in Democratic politics in Jersey City.

I would argue that most people of color aren't nostalgic for the 'simpler olden days'.

All the OP is asking for is some good ol' OSAMEA!

JR, are you speaking for people of color? It's great when white people do that. So the "olden days" of the zone were what? 20 yrs ago? So you're making an argument that colored folks wouldn't be ok with the zone 20 yrs ago? Weird argument to make.

In 2000 had the Philzone really yet evolved into what it became more famously known for?

I didn't come along until '06, but from my take from a few archived threads that were occasionally posted is that the zone seemed mostly a Q lovefest site in those early days.

Were people being vanquished in 2000 and asked how they liked their eggs?

kezar stadium?  9ers, zep, dead/riders

>>>kezar stadium?  9ers, zep, dead/riders<<<

Don't forget the Oakland Raiders.

They played their first season at Kezar.

They were losers there too.

I can tell that I've lost my marbles when I think that Judit's "Ford vs Chevy" statement was about Gerald Ford and Chevy Chase...

Lance - 2000-2006 Zone before you got there:

Asked about eggs - yes

Q love fest - OH YES

vanquished - no sir did not happen pre-2006

The troll zone did not really come around until after 2010 - people could be feisty-but-friendly pre-2010, but not as much as post 2010 (which is when many OG and older zoners left the Zone)

Cheers!

Timpane, stop stalking and following me around. It's creepy and toxic behavior that I want no part of.
