Time for some concerts in the park.

Forums:

Tens of thousands of people are standing shoulder in the streets demanding justice and change.   Let's bring in a flatbed truck and generator and have some live music.  RATM, Public Enemy (if Flav can get off his dope fiend ass), Tenacious D, and maybe some of these newer groups the young people like.   Why not?

That! ^^^

I find the current situation that RATM is in to be very funny.

Flavor Flav has been kicked out of PE.

I agree Ken. If dope fiends like the Dead could pull it off back then, these guys should be able to get some stealth shit together.

Freedom Rock.

Did the Dead ever play during riots and curfews?  Doubt it.

They wouldn't even go on stage at Altamont when it was just a small group of Hells Angels kicking the shit out of Marty Balin.

MC5 played the 68 DNC riots.

RATM played at the 2000 DNC.

So it doesn't work?

Why not?

It has been hard enough to try to get the protestors to wear masks and practice some forms of social distancing. Throw in a raging set by RATM and you probably should just spray the crowd with Eau de Corona and get it over with.

This idea has some merit, as it's all about optics. Hope Hicks knows this ... hence the bible photo op for Trump's followers. People more often get images trapped in their brains, than words. Especially people that seldomly read.

What would it look like if in every city there was a raging dance party (with a political message, of course) facing a line of heavily armed, uniformed soldiers? Call it an angry wake.

Blacks, whites, young, old, everyone... protest dancing together in the streets. (To make it more surreal, you could even broadcast the music to folks wearing headphones so it would be like a silent disco, providing the opportunity for simultaneous action, so it looks like the crowd has maximum solidarity "When the song stops, everyone take a knee." )

I'm thinking Sly and the Family Stone would be one good candidate, as you want it to have mass appeal.

And just to fuck with them, all the protestors should dress in red, white and blue -- why should the Trumpers get to appropriate that subliminal "pro-America" message? Dressing in ninja black automatically sends a negative one. Take back the flag -- to be a symbol of the "real America --- the united states."

Call it the Wavy Gravy strategy.

PORT-AU-PRINCE (Reuters) - Thousands of Haitians packed the streets in Port-Au-Prince on Sunday to call for President Jovenel Moise's resignation, singing and dancing in a carnival-like protest led by artists after weeks of intensifying anti-government demonstrations.

Opposition leaders and their supporters in the nation of 11 million people, the poorest in the Americas, have called for Moise to step down as anger grows over fuel and food shortages, a steep currency devaluation and corruption allegations...

Up to about 10,000 people, including men and women wearing white in a show of solidarity, marched in the capital and its outskirts on Sunday to upbeat music blasting from trucks outfitted with powerful speakers, in a scene reminiscent of Haiti's cherished carnival celebrations...

Port-Au-Prince Mayor Youri Chevry said he was heartened to see artists and musicians spearheading the demonstration.

"They are leading this movement today to help the people find solutions for their long-standing demands," he told a local radio station.

Unlike previous marches in which protesters clashed with police, the day was largely peaceful.

At least 17 people have been killed and 189 injured in the recent stretch of protests, according to Haiti's National Network for the Defense of Human Rights.

Dancing and drums....almost 4 million views already:

Protests over the killing of George Floyd have been raging all across the world demanding an end to racism.

During one such protest in Loìza, Puerto Rico, a young girl was spotted dancing to the rhythm of Bomba, the island’s traditional music drum which is rooted in Boricua’s African heritage.

Silent Discos are the best! First did it at Horning's Hideout, now they are regularly scheduled at parks around Portland... well, until recently.

If I'm antsy like you for some live tunes I am sure Bob Weir is too.

If anyone is to pull it off it will be Bobby.

There was Dropkick Murphy on the other night. Watched about 4 songs and moved on. Jorma has been hot hot hot!!
