I take what I need and leave the rest. See whats actually happening where. See what's being said and done by whom. Just actual happenings, aka facts. No opinion news for me, I can come to a conclusion on the days goings on without being spoon fed one. Sadly the same cannot be said for a lot of Americans. They chose to only tune in to an outlet that will massage their egos regardless of factual content. A place where facts get distorted or just plain disappear. Big audience for that kind of bullshit (propoganda) these days, and plenty of inferior minds eager to consume it.
Does anyone who posts here honestly think that the present administration if given another four years has a clue on how to find a way out of crisis?
This crisis will never end until there is a change in the white house. If the democrats can flip the senate, keep the house and make some major changes. Get the nation back on track, USA, USA, USA!

I think what's missing in every discussion on the media is this simple element of reading news: There is a difference between reporting facts and reporting opinion. While facts typically involve some degree of subjective interpretation, what most people call biased media are examples of editorials.
For example, in newspapers, there may be a report that says that the Mayor of Sunnyville, USA, was elected. In the same paper, there may be an editorial that suggests that he was elected because of X, Y, and Z. It's an opinion on the facts that were reported, and may or may not be factual, true, or correct.
TV News has definitely blurred those lines. However, there drumming of the bongos that say that no one can trust the media is often just a lazy position peddled by populist politicians and gorged upon by those who may not know the difference between facts and opinion.
It serves to divide and stupefy. It gives Americans something to complain about, whether false or real, and complaining seems to be a source of satisfaction for many.

I'm 100% with you, Lager. It's almost as if both the news media and the general public forgot the difference between fact and opinion. Most of the articles linked to on this site are opinion pieces. The cable news networks, on all sides of the political spectrum, are 99% opinion.
Case in point is Trump's most recent blunder about strong lights and ingesting Lysol. The fact is that he said some stupid shit. He always says stupid shit. It really doesn't matter what it is, it's just him being him. The "news media" has been blathering on about it for days. They aren't reporting anything because there's nothing to report. It's opinion after opinion about it. I don't give a flying fuck what 27 overpaid talking heads have to say about it.
It's a big world we live in, with a lot going on, a lot of real news. Even with a dozen 24 hour news channels, it's almost impossible to find the news.
What he said was a fact. The 24/7 coverage of his stupid comment, for 4 days, was all opinion. His comments took all of 25 seconds. How much analysis does something that inane need?
I might watch a few minutes of local news and a few of network nightly news a day, but that's about it. I don't even watch CBS This Morning anymore, and I find myself turning off the Daily Show. The snapshots that I do see are all repetitive.
It was evil when the news divisions got swallowed by the entertainment divisions, and were expected to be money-makers. That's when it all went to shit. I think it's more pro profit than it is pro corporate.

Media stations are not solely driven on delivering current events to the public and they are not at all driven on delivering factual narratives. They do serve as platforms for political gain and as well advertisement driven narratives that benefits large companies who own stock in these media stations. Is that hard for people to understand? Would billionaires buy huge public shares and seem to have no control over it when the purpose of large business in general is hyper competitiveness and superior control?
Anyways, my father was the op ed editor at the Philly Inquire for 15 yrs before being demoted and eventual laid off. Right before he left Coca Cola made a large and exclusive deal for advertisement in their paper. Coca Cola now has pull because of their funding the inquire now has decisions to make based on their agenda, and while the inquirer was smart enough to not give CC the amount of advertising that they were asking for or originally they still gave in in hopes for survival. This is a small example of things to come in the news and media. The corporate forefront era is in full effect and we are seeing with all of the bailouts and SBAs which ultimately ending up going to larger companies. Like it or not, we are all a part of it.

It really doesn't matter what it is, it's just him being him. The "news media" has been blathering on about it for days. They aren't reporting anything because there's nothing to report. It's opinion after opinion about it. I don't give a flying fuck what 27 overpaid talking heads have to say about it.
It's a big world we live in, with a lot going on, a lot of real news. Even with a dozen 24 hour news channels, it's almost impossible to find the news.

Media stations are not solely driven on delivering current events to the public and they are not at all driven on delivering factual narratives. They do serve as platforms for political gain and as well advertisement driven narratives that benefits large companies who own stock in these media stations. Is that hard for people to understand? Would billionaires buy huge public shares and seem to have no control over it when the purpose of large business in general is hyper competitiveness and superior control?
Anyways, my father was the op ed editor at the Philly Inquire for 15 yrs before being demoted and eventual laid off. Right before he left Coca Cola made a large and exclusive deal for advertisement in their paper. Coca Cola now has pull because of their funding the inquire now has decisions to make based on their agenda, and while the inquirer was smart enough to not give CC the amount of advertising that they were asking for or originally they still gave in in hopes for survival. This is a small example of things to come in the news and media. The corporate forefront era is in full effect and we are seeing with all of the bailouts and SBAs which ultimately ending up going to larger companies. Like it or not, we are all a part of it.
