A Pentecostal church in Holly Springs got burned to the ground last night. The church had filed a lawsuit last month again net the city over it's public health order regarding in person worship services. Apparently the church wasn't following the social distancing protocols at their services, which are still allowed in Mississippi. Whoever did it had poor spelling skills. The sign they left behind reads: “Bet you stay home now you hypokrits,"
The cynic in me wonders if this is a false flag event perpetrated by the anti-lockdown militias to engender sympathy for their cause. Either way, a real shitty thing to do. Church is a huge part of the social fabric in that part of the country.
Holly Springs is just outside of Oxford, in the North Mississippi Hill country just south of Memphis. It's where R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough lived, where Junior would have his free Sunday afternoon barn parties where the white lightning would flow and the Blues would pour down. Someone's probably singing a Blues about this already.

With these religious leaders, have they read the "render unto Caesar" verse in the bible? It suggests people need to obey their governmental leaders and the law.
Burning the church down, if done intentionally, isn't right. But Herbal Dave's skepticism is warranted with these wackos, IMO.
