He's upset that David Gilmour is denying him any access to Pink Floyd's website to post any of his projects. Sounds like he is trying to reach out and figure out a way for them to work together, and that Gilmour is holding onto a grudge. Damn pity.

I disagree Woz. He's trying
I disagree Woz. He's trying to extend an olive branch and get them all talking again. You know that Nick Mason would jump at the opportunity to do a Pink Floyd reunion tour. I think Gilmour is being obstinate and acting like a child. Waters wrote the bulk of the material Pink Floyd is known for. Banning any mention of him from the official website is a joke.
Once the COVID-19 situation has been addressed properly enough to resume large scale concerts, there will be a very narrow window for many of the older acts to perform again. The original members of Pink Floyd should bury the hatchet and get the show back on the road. In the wake of the pandemic, a Pink Floyd reunion would be cathartic.
Can you imagine if they played a show at the Great Pyramid in Egypt? The Red Hot Chili Peppers played there last year, so the Egyptians have clearly come back around to using it as a venue again. It would be the definition of epic, and cement their legacy for all-time.

Gilmour and Robert Plant said basically the same thing:
"You could give me $500 million and there's still no fucking way I would do that."
At their ages and where they are in life, I don't blame either of them one bit.

There's no way to know what
There's no way to know what all the dirt and history is, but IMO Gilmour is coming off looking bad in this, and that's not usually how he comes across.
I couldn't care less if they get together again, but from my uninformed view Waters should be able to shill his stuff on a Pink Floyd website if the others can.
Either way it doesn't matter for him, because as always his output is far better and more popular than anything Gilmour has ever done, including Fake Pink Floyd, which was truly fake, so with or without access to the Pink Floyd site Waters will sell his stuff and if he tours again he'll sell big houses (and the shows will be great).
It just seems petty to bicker about who can use the Pink Floyd site, especially because way back in the day if they didn't have Gilmour they would have found someone else and the site would still exist today. Without Waters there wouldn't be a site to bicker over.

I disagree. Gilmour's guitar parts are uniquely Pink Floyd. Waters didn't write them. Gilmour played a significant amount of bass on Animals. Richard Wright's synth makes DOSTM and defines the Floyd sound early on. Waters gets way too much credit and the others not enough. The Waterless Floyd was great live, their albums sucked, on that I agree. Waters solo albums were mostly lackluster as well. As to Floyd, the run from Atom Heart Mother through Animals was very much a group effort. George Orwell should get credit for the Animals concept, but musically that's Gilmour's peak. The Wall was all Waters but frankly maybe their fifth or sixth best album. IMO Roger is an egomaniac and Gilmour is just being consistent.
i'm still a big fan of Waters, but everything in these disputes is his fault IMO.

And the bickering about who
And the bickering about who can use the name started with Waters claiming the other 75% of the band could not use the name. He filed suit and the current state of affairs is where it ended. He quit and wanted to take the brand because his head got too big after the Wall......ridiculous given it's relative lackluster stature when compared with the overall Floyd canon. It's about the last Floyd I'd think of playing in 2020. They. Luke have split amicably but Roger wanted it all. He has reaped what he sowed. Gilmour has been consistent since 1985 while Roger wants to get reinstated to prove he was right when he has been successful enough on his own. He's a wanker at this point.

I’d argue waters’ song writing and Alan Parsons’ Engineering make DSOTM.
gilmour and wright’s style sure do add some nice texture though.

This discussion comes around
This discussion comes around once in a while and I always enjoy it.
I love David Gilmour. He's written some legendary songs and was a big part of Pink Floyd, but if he had never joined the band they would have found another great guitar player and Pink Floyd would still have existed and become a popular rock 'n roll band. Maybe not as brilliant as they were, maybe not with the same level of iconic albums, but the band would have developed and been great.
If Waters had quit music in the '60s or lost his mind like Sid Barrett there would never have been a Pink Floyd. We'd almost certainly know who David Gilmour is because he would have hooked up with some other band/s and become a major league professional, but there would have been no Pink Floyd.
And IMO Fake Floyd was dulldulldull live. I saw them four or five times (by choice and later necessity) and to me they were as pre-packaged plastic as any band I've ever seen, in no way representative of what Pink Floyd was live. It looked great and it sounded just exactly perfect, but every moment was exactly the same as the moment before and the moment after, every show exactly the same as the night before, the night after. My take at the time was that their show was more like a Broadway production of a rock band than an actual rock band. Meh.
And for me that describes my take on Gilmour in general; he's a bit bland, he's not a front man or a leader. The Gilmour solo shows I've seen over the years have been flat for me, especially compared to what he did with Floyd, while Waters shows have always worked for me. Even with all the "theatrical" hoohaa his shows have always come across as live music with an edge, and he is most definitely a front man/leader. And whoever he has on lead guitar always rips the Gilmour parts so I've never missed that.
As for the lawsuit, Waters has admitted he was wrong (even though I don't think he was - that band WASN'T Pink Floyd) and has apologized, and that was a LONG time ago. Ultimately I stand by my original statement in this thread... we know Waters is a prick but we have no idea what's really at play here. I would imagine that Gilmour isn't saying the real reasons why he's blocking Waters from the site, likely because he is a nice guy (if a bit bland) and is willing to look bad. Maybe he just knows Waters would take the site over both musically & in direction, since he's still working hard, has lots of opinions and is just a huge personality in general.
Either way this thing comes across as silly, and ultimately unimportant. If Gilmour can shill his solo stuff on the Pink Floyd site then he should allow Waters to do the same, and Waters should just say no thanks and continue with his own trip.
Now I think I'll put on Animals, my personal favorite work by either of those guys.
