R.I.P. Little Richard

This leaves Jerry Lee Lewis as the last living member of the first class of Rock & Roll pioneers.

Richard was pretty quiet the last 20 years or so, but left a massive footprint on Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues music.  His early recordings for Specialty Records are timeless nuggets, and he continued to make important music through the 60's and into the 70's.  His often overlooked work for Warner-Reprise in the early 70's during his first comeback to secular music displays a genius talent who was adapting to the developing landscape around him without sacrificing the soul at the heart of his music.

Another favorite son of Macon, Georgia gone off to the great gig in the sky.

Slippin' and Slidin' (1957)

He had so many great tunes, but to me, this song is the essence of Rock & Roll.

RIP and respect.

RIP to a true original.  R&R would have been a different animal without him.

Rest in peace.

Unique!!!

I saw him at the Apollo Theater in Harlem back in 2006 or so. EXCELLENT show.

Shut up!

Man, what a good run

RIP Little Richard
