It's amazing how astute the songwriter's of the classic rock era were at such young ages. RIP.

Dude's estate tried to sue the Led Zeppelin and lost.

Was tragic how he died saving his son.  RIP.

For all his greatness,  Jimmy Page was known to snag a lick or two.

Anyone know how Randy  got that last name?  Interesting story...

Thanks for sharing, just read up on him.

I saw Spirit several times between late 60s & very early 70s.

Spirit is a somewhat underrated band.  Their albums hold up well.

Their first album is one for the ages - after that, not so much.

Jimi Hendrix had 2 guys named Randy in his pre-Experience, NY based band. Jimi nicknamed one of the guys Randy California, in order to distinguish him from the other Randy, nicknamed Randy Texas.

I read this a long time ago. For reference...

from wikipedia:

The stage name "Randy California" was given to him by Hendrix to distinguish him from another Randy in the band, Randy Palmer, whom Hendrix dubbed "Randy Texas".

Spirit played my college gym (Alfred State, N.Y.) around '72. I was probably paying closer attention to who was bogartin' the Mex or some co-ed's, so I honestly don't remember much about it.

Great "Hendrix-gave-me-my-name trivia"? I  geuss I'm fascinated by useless information.

Crab boy.  Perhaps we hung together at winterland
