People were literally protesting the governors decision to shut down the state days ago. How does that look for democrats state wide in one of the most conservative states in the country? Truth is that the dems are losing fire power by the minute and to talk on JRs point, Biden is big trouble and is way behind on staffing for the general election.

This statement is basically true, and IMO EVERYone with a rational intellect of a 7-year-old should at this point be desperate to get Trump out of office. No matter their individual deep-seated hatreds, petty biases or fair debatable beliefs, EVERYone sane should want Trump out.

This is not a political issue. It isn't about believing in conservative values and policies or hating liberal values and policies, Donald Trump has proven to any level of doubt that he more than incompetent, he has proven to be a lunatic. Not the over-used, watered down definition of lunatic that we all love to throw around about people who do strange things or who we don't agree with, but the actual, literal definition of the word lunatic.

That's what Trump is, obviously, and since we've been in the midst of a real crisis that requires real leadership & intellect he proves his incompetency and lunacy more & more every day.

Here's the contradiction you don't seem to absorb:

You and pheater are (were) advocates for Bernie. You advocated for his policies and his campaign, and were a part of his "movement". You made very bold claims about Bernie's inevitable march to claim the Dem nomination.

Meanwhile, as mannfred mentioned above, many here have been making observations about the broader electorate, as a whole. That the 2020 election isn't about the Democratic nominee or their platform, it's about removing Trump. You took these observations as advocacy for "centrist" policies, when it was actually just observations and sensing the temperature of the electorate.

Some, including me, expressed intent that the main goal was to remove Trump, that this election was a mandate on him and his performance in office. You two couldn't accept that. In fact, pheater was downright disrespectful and nasty. I stated clearly that I would vote for Bernie if he was nominated (Step in line!).

Pheater would get frustrated and press me on who I supported, or who I planned voting for. He expected me to commit to a candidate the way you and he did. As it turns out, it wasn't Bernie versus the field of other candidates, it was idealism versus pragmatism. Pragmatism "won".

I hope you can accept this reality, and help remove the orange menace form office while there's still time. If only the BernieBros could drop their egos.

You know how the far right took over the Republican Party? They mobilized people to vote for their candidates on the local and state levels. They then got those voters to come out in national elections. The RNC didn't have a choice but to move to the right.

I've been saying for years hear that the far left has to follow the same path if they really want power in the Party. What I get in return is whining about Bernie being robbed, and the working class being overlooked. Mobilize ion the local and state level, get Progressives in governance, and it will change.

Wisconsin has almost  no progressives in its assembly. Pennsylvania has 7 between the House and Senate. That needs to change, and it has to come from the bottom, not the top, just like the Tea Party did.

It's time to stop focusing on the presidency as the working class savior, and start focusing on the working class itself. Strengthen the Progressive Party at the local level, in state after state. Get more people in those legislatures. Then elect more Progressives in Congress, especially the Senate. That's how it will change.

I have to say, the whole "I'm not in a swing state" line of reasoning is a cop-out. Just because you're not in WI, PA or MI, it doesn't mean that you can't financially and physically support the progressive candidates in those states. Send the PA Progressive Caucus your money. Fly out there and go door to door for them. That's how you'll make change and have the nice things you want. The Northerners who gave their lives in the Civil Rights movement didn't sit at home in NY and say, "The Blacks in the South want nice things, but they can sit where they want on busses here, so there's nothing I can do."

The same way Lincoln did in 1860 - have a scism in one of the major parties and get a plurality in a four way race.   

Absent that, you just need to get more votes in enough key states than either of the two major parties.   And to do that, you would only need a strong plurality.   For example, if you had popular third-party canididate getting 35% of the vote in enough key states, with the GOP getting 32.5% and the Democrats getting 32.5%, the third party candidate could get elected.   

Of course, we aren't anywhere near that now, but could move in that direction with ranked choice voting.   By taking out the spoiler effect, it would be easy for a third party to get enough votes to qualify for the national debates during the next general election.  Building a "school board up" ground game would also be helpful.

I never said that was Bernie's only chance. I think a third party may emerge in the next few yrs. I am hoping anyway. I don't think it was viable 5 yrs ago.

The difference between the candidates is in what they will try and do.  Biden may get more done, but who will benefit?  Will he push for medicare for all?  Ask the 30 million that are out of work how they like there old bosses ins now? Where-as Biden is business as usual, Bernie would have fought the corruption and maybe enlisted enough backers to accomplish something.  I think Congress will be increasingly progressive. At least I am hoping.
