For cities, Budapest is at the top of the list. East meets West with lots of great architecture, history, thermal baths, and a general cool vibe.
For more rural stuff, Belize is up there. Outstanding diving, Mayan ruins, deep jungles, and funky blend of Afro-Caribbean and Mesoamerican culture.
San Juan Islands are pretty chill too. Island culture in the PNW.
