Ya mon!!! Brent!  Louie Louie in Louisville!

What a fun time and tour that was! Still easy to get tix, could sleep in the parking lots, etc.   We toured in a huge white station wagon 2 people could easily sleep in. Did Pittsburgh (riot shows) > Ann Arbor > Cincinnati > Louisville!  Had to work for a bit so skipped the rest of the Mid West then headed to Irvine, CA!!

Such great memories!

YES! What a great tour/time Indeed and I feel fortunate to have seen Chicago and Milwaukee. So many wild experiences and subsequently timeless stories packed in there too. The top cop in Rosemont was friends with my work manager at the time and sold tix to our crew in the "city section" which was just off the floor Jerry-side, had an unfortunate Car-B-Q at the last northbound tollway pay booth and hitched a ride up to Milwaukee with a couple dudes whom are still close friends, and had an overall gas the whole time. Was handed a Dupree's Diamond News flyer and decided we were going on tour that summer.

...it was cool hearing said top cop say that he'd rather work 20 GD shows than any metal or "hard rock" show and always had a ton of requests for OT from cops who enjoyed thw scene and interacting with Deadheads too. The famed Rosemont Horizon was always a surprisingly chill situation outside and in while the Chicago suburbs at large were typically not so much.

A family friend ran a limo company and following a Soldier Field stop had a driver get pulled over for speeding with the band in the car. Driver gets out to explain 'the situation' and that he's headed to the airport blah blah blah. Chicago cop gets excited and says, "No way! You have the Grateful Dead back there?!? Is Jerry there?!? So driver has to go talk to Jerry for an autograph and all parties were super stoked to have that all behind them and moves on otherwise uneventfully. The driver told me that story on the sly because he could have been fired for both speeding and "interfering with celebrities" but he said Jerry in particular got a huge kick out of the whole affair.

"Car-B-Q"

Awesome Straw, needed that laugh.

Never had one of those myself but seen a few at shows.

We were driving into Oxford in Maine when we saw a car parked on the side

of the road, fully engulfed in flames. Those people were going to be bumming after the show.

Yea Man! It was a spectacularly rapidly moving enferno from the motor on out in my buddy's Dad's Cherokee. He did not even blink (you had to know this guy to believe it) and calmy told us to just get it off the road to the shoulder once the flames and smoke subsided and he'd arrange to have it picked up later....."No worries - enjoy the shows up there!"

Very good show. Great scene.

The last Louie Louie.
