Soaking is what I was going to suggest before you go digging. Sterilize whatever implement you use with some rubbing alcohol, or vodka, like Briank suggested.

10 days?! That's a rough place to have a shard of glass digging into you.
I hope that you have good flexibility or someone who can operate on you while you're lying on your stomach (with a shot or two in that organ before you go under the knife).

With 4 kids my Mom was a intraining nurse/doctor. Lil piece of glass in the foot was nothing. My sister somehow stepped on a toothpick and went straight in her foot.
Soak foot as Mom gathered tweezers, exacto knife, razor blade, bright light and magnify glasses.
Get into position and bite a leather belt.
Hurt like fuck but Mom always got it done.
