I made this one this morning - I folded in a craft pipe cleaner and hand stitched a bit - but there are plenty of designs that don't require any sewing though.

show me yours..

Masks.jpg

My wife has made about 60 for freinds, family and some neighbors

She has not sewed since middle school

She bought a lil sewing machine last week and she is doing her Rosie The Riviter imitation 2020

Ive been sick for a week and I seem to be getting better a whole lot slower than how it came on. There is little to no testing in our area. Buckle up kids its going to be a rough one.

Take care Tim.  Your wife's doing great work.

You too, Nancy.

Thanks

and nice work, Tim and Mrs

Here in the hood, there are lots of bandanas.

Today, no-sew bandana mask.

Keep getting better, Tim. Nice masks, Mrs. Tim and Nancy.

I was at the grocery store earlier, and I commented to the cashier that 2 weeks ago if someone came in with a mask they'd call the cops. She told me how worried she was because she has to do all the shopping for her 95 year old grandfather, and she doesn't have a mask, nor does she have time to get one (WalMart is 20 minutes away). I handed her a brand new N 95, still in the wrapper. She got tears in her eyes.

I have a couple of unused N95's left over from the time of smoke from fires here and in the Bay Area - a doctor friend and I were joking about the possiblity of getting mugged for them... (I also kept the used ones from then to use if I ever needed them. I hope not.) I'm saving them all for now.

Sweet offering, BK.

We have the masks at our offices, and they are shut down. Last week I asked my boss if we should bring them all to the hospital, where they are needed. She said, "nice thought, but we'll need them when we pen back up."

To me that's ridiculous. We can order more now for delivery in a month. Until then there are people who really need them. Although as had grabbed 2 for personal use before heading to the store, I was more than happy to give one away to someone in need.

Nice to see you, Judit!  I haven't needed to mask up yet...if I go out, it's only to the forest trails.

I'm donating some sewing supplies and fabric scraps to a friend with sewing skills in exchange for a mask and a dinner.

Sweet masks Judit / Nancy!!

Looking good zone. I also go with the psychedelic bank robber type, but only had to leave a couple times last month.

Last week, I dug out the shemagh/ keffiyah my Egyptian girlfriend gave me back in college and wear that around when I go jogging in my red Royal Tennenbaum track suit.

Makes me feel like a gun nut sniper wannabe up top, hipster down low, but people give me some distance.

Mission Accomplished.

>psychedelic bank robber

exactly.

strange times..

Bank robber/cattle rustler is sort of popular around here.

Garyfish, I love the coral-ly fabric in the first pics. I learned a lot when I first checked that page out. There are a lot of them out there...

Mine is simpler, just folded a couple of times so there are 4 layers of cotton fabric. I took it out for a spin earlier today and it felt pretty cozy and protective (in both directions).

Love that no-sew mask pattern -- thanks Garyfish!

I am making like Yasser Arafat with a keffiyeh.

COVID-19 is afraid of his blood.

Just gave this it's maiden voyage to the office supply store.  No one looked at me weird or drew their price guns.

I went grocery shopping yesterday, and I’m wearing my mask. It is one I have left over from the Paradise fire that made the air quality here horrible. It is all black with a white exhalation valve. It looks like something Darth Vader would wear.

I walk up to the fish counter and the lady running it is preparing an order for the man standing six feet away to my right. He is in a deep conversation on his phone and hasn’t registered that I’m standing there. As his order is being prepared, he slowly turns his back to the counter obviously deeply engaged in his phone conversation, but now his order is ready, and the lady is standing there waiting for him to turn around. She just stands there and the man has his back to her, and I see that nothing is going to happen.

I know from earlier experience at the meat counter that no one can hear a thing I’m saying when I’m wearing the mask. I also have to add that even though this is yesterday only about 10% of us are wearing masks at the store. So, I move into his eye site and wave.

I can see he is still deep in conversation and he isn’t registering my presence. So I wave more vigorously and for the first time he realizes that someone is to his left and slowly turns to look at me, and that is the first time he sees me, and his expression is pure WTF is this shit I have to deal with now on top of everything else.

We are now holding eye contact and I gesture for him to look toward the counter to get his order, but nope he does not trust anything Darth Vader guy is telling him. So I keep pointing him in the direction of the counter and finally he slowly turns but still keeps one eye on me. I’m sure at this point he had completely forgotten that he had ordered fish and was in no mood to look at whatever I was insisting he look at. Finally he sees the lady holding out his order and visibly relaxes grabs his fish and walks away never looking back.

I just ordered a couple of cool Grateful Dead masks from here. I got a stealie style and one with dancing bears. Lots of different styles, you just have to play around on the site to view them all.

Would wear a Stones tongue and lips mask.

I want one of those Jamspace.

They say that the Blue Paper Shop towels are good for stopping the small particles (dude). Good idea to line some of the above with one of these around the nose and mouth.

Hey Skyjunk. I posted the link earlier in the thread. It's a weird site. You have to click on the different masks then scroll down to where it says others recommended and keep clicking to get to see all the styles. There must be 10 or more.

Sorry Bob

sometimes I just look at the pictures

sometimes I read from bottom to top

and once again the fool for it
