That hotel on the right in
That hotel on the right in that picture is where the band stayed in '81 for the Stanley Theater shows, the friend of mine who introduced me to Jerry in '83 made his first big connection with Jerry at that place after the second night. They kept him up all night, I had front row seats the next night in College Park and was wondering why Jerry looked so tired.

I believe these were the only
I believe these were the only shows I saw where the police were in riot gear. Great shows in Cincinnati, Louisville, and Milwaukee, too. I missed the Ann Arbor shows due to my grandfather's passing.

Slept out downtown to get tickets....it was COLD! Week or so before a buddy of mine at Pitt asked if I wanted to buy his ticket for this show because he wanted to stay home and watch the NCAA championship game. So I upgraded my 400 level seat to 13th row on the floor. Was right at the intersection of two aisles so I had a perfect view right to Jerry. Fun weekend for sure!

I saw the '85 and '88 shows
I saw the '85 and '88 shows there. Both were pretty solid shows.
'85 had a Must've Been The Roses, Crazy Fingers and a Revolution/Brokedown Palace double encore. I remember doing big dosey-dohs in the hallways with some friends during the big bouncy Lovelight at the end of the 2nd set. It had just recently returned to their set lists for the first time since the Pigpen era and was a crowd pleaser.
The '88 show was where Brent debuted Gentlemen Start Your Engines. I remember going out on the smokers' deck at intermission and seeing a couple of guys climb up to it on fire hoses people had uncoiled and threw down to them.
The '89 show is when the riot broke out, and MTV aired footage of the cops beating Heads with billy clubs as they threw them into police vans, right? Next to the tear gas at Deer Creek, a nadir of the Mega-Dead era.
