Escape from New York

Forums:

smart move telling everybody about the quarantine before it goes into effect.

that way nobody will make a rush for the exits.

I live a 5 minute walk from the Pa border and my favorite grocery store is across the state line. My favorite wing joint is over in pa. I wonder if they are setting up road blocks when the edict comes down from potus

My nephew is on the front lines as a nurse in NYC, he works in pediatric ICU. He started his job in December. He has to commute to his home in Brooklyn daliy (he works night shift) - used to take the subway, now takes UBER.

Please Everyone Stay HOME Get Your Needed supplies and HUNKER Down. Italy has blown me away what is happening there.

I'm 3 plus hours from NYC and my little burg has several cases, post master and mail man, school resource officer who passed out bag lunches and a person who works at a local nursing home. These are the ones we know of.

Good wings will get you through, Denny.

Seriously, take it easy there. My bro is in Manhattan and not too psyched about it right about now.

Yes, I'm staying in unless I go for a walk weather permitting. My car just sits in the drive way.

I would like to go golfing, but doubt I would be able to enjoy myself. The two local courses are open.

Snake Plissken tested positive.

You people need to stay in your state The Dells are closed sorry Brooklyn

Thinking of a vacation drive to Madison, hardeehar

The dink's just trying to keep himself in the news, the focus of attention. His ego requires it and he revels in the attention.

He's trying to look like he's a leader and we know he's not. His base will eat it up though. Mission accomplished.

I notified the checkpoint, Denny

Snitches get stiches

"You People"

You won't be laughing when we keep all of the good cheese for ourselves

^My wife grew up in Wisconsin and I grew up in California.

We don't talk about cheese...

Stay safe you East Coasters.  And everyone else.

I'm in New Paltz, NY       the college dorms have been prepped as possible hospital beds

Not too bad here so far based on CDC info.

Lot's of NYC folks heading north are making the locals a bit crazy.

Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Preserve, River to Ridge trail were wall to wall last week. Social closeness!

Local SUNY professor and his wife have been documenting their experience with the virus and it has been a true public service.

So far so good, but prepared for the worst.

Huh.  I took my car out on the highway for the first time in a while.  My Sis and I swapped some excess staples, saving us each a store visit.

On the way back, I saw what seemed like an inordinate amount of MA plates heading south.

I started wondering if Boston was getting locked down.

One of my nieces graduated from Georgetown last Spring and started a finance job in Manhattan last August with the company she'd interned with the previous summer.  She's been sharing an apartment there with a couple of her friends and enjoying being young and out on her own with a good paying gig in NYC.

A couple of weeks ago she was coming home from work and the door to her apartment was open, she could hear music inside and someone rustling around.  As both of her roomates were out of town, she knew better than to barge in and called the cops.  They arrived and found a lady dressed in my niece's pajamas, wearing her jewelry and smoking crack, who proceeded to ask the cops what they were doing in her apartment before they arrested her.  My niece was so skeeved out, she has temporarily moved back out to her folks' place in the burbs out in Westchester, where she can work online.   The good news is she's safe, healthy, and out of downtown.

Remember when the New York State Troopers set up roadblocks on the Northway to Lake Placid plucking heads out of traffic for searches?

Also troopers at all the toll booths peeking into deadhead's cars getting off the thruway, Rochester 85.

Don't recall any other states doing that

Link?  I like to check those out.

To be honest, they should have banned New Yorkers from Cape Cod and the RI coastline years ago. Probably around 1989.

One thing that looks like will come out of this virus episode is a new level of distrust and anger between states which is something new and exciting to look forward to in the future!

OMG Dave that is horrible

it may take a looooong time for her to recover from that trauma

peace and healing to her and your family

Slobud,

It's a members only Village of New Paltz FB page or I would post a link. Here is yesterday's:

Good afternoon all. So sorry for the delay in my daily update. This morning was a bit rough. Lots of coughing and tightness/burning in my chest. Slight fever. But, around 2pm I started to feel a bit less constriction in my chest, and my cough seems a bit more manageable. My oxygen saturation is 98% which is very good. Don’t know if it will last but right now I’m feeling a bit better. It helps that Ed and I are listening to Bach’s St. Matthew Passion which is much beloved to both of us. Bach always makes everything more bearable.

Edit: rudely I said nothing about Ed. He continues to improve. Temp normal and coughing minimal. We think he is definitely over the hump. Thank God.

Hope everyone is having a quiet, pleasant Sunday. Much love to everyone. You are all very dear to us. Stay safe and well. ❤️❤️❤️

Stay healthy, Dave.

Has anyone heard from NYCED?

My folks down in FLA say the state troopers have checkpoints set up at I-95 on the Florida-Georgia line looking for Yankees.
