Baseball Jones

Forums:

A few weeks ago I was planning on being in Arizona right now on a much needed vacation checking out some spring training games but something a little more important came up ie: global pandemic.

Thanks to the interwebs we can relive past baseball glory.

Here is The 9th inning of Mark Buehrle's perfect game on 7-23-09 with one of the greatest catches ever considering the circumstances, and the call by Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone.

I miss baseball.

Wow, what a catch by Wise!

Thanks for the fix.

You tube has alot of great old complete game broadcasts...just watched the Sox win their first world series title in 86 years!

And , im looking fir a good game to download for free on computer....

One good thing, bball prob will be bringing back doubleheaders

Lets play two!

^day/night doubleheaders. Need that ticket revenue

last night were back to back to back specials, beginning with a show about the Yankees/red sox 1978 one game playoff with bucky dent, gator, & other players from that year commentating

followed by a show about the entire 78 season

followed by the one game playoff (yankees broadcast) in its entirety

makes me wish we had the Yes channel here

>>>Wow, what a catch by Wise!

Yea, what makes it better was that he was a 9th inning defensive replacement by Ozzie. Don't know if Podsednick makes that catch.

Here is a snippet of Bill Walton in the booth with Jason Bennetti for a White Sox v Angels game last year. I'd like to find the whole game.

The 7th inning of the 2015 ALDS game 5 between the Rangers and Blue Jays was crazy. Starts at about 1:38.

I sure did miss baseball today.

anyone ever play strat-0-matic? it's a board game that has full rosters of players from every year, roll dice and corresponding player cards have different outcomes based on the dice roll and based on real player stats.

can be a great timekiller

Another big Jones is the NCAA Tourney, haven't missed a Final Four in close to 50 years,

Cheech And Chong with George Harrison....

Jonesin' for Jerry

Just watched a replay of Len Barker's perfect game from 5/15/81. The Indians beat the Blue Jays 3-0.

Now playing is the All Star Game from 1981 at Cleveland Stadium. I attended the game dosed on 2 blue microdots. Morganna the kissing bandit made an appearance and gave Len a hug and kiss when he was on the mound. That was a truly surreal moment!cheeky

Funny to see the "Basketball Jones" reference. Back when I was working Utah Jazz radio ('85-'86) and doing community radio, I got Jazz Coach Frank Layden to do a promo for me.

I love that man for a number of reasons. Very charitable for one. Great guy. The script I wrote went like this.

Frank - (He mentions and promos the show. Then....)  Hey, is this show I'm doing this for any good?

Me - Ah, you know Coach. Some days are better than others. Tune in sometime and I'll play ya a request. Whattaya wanna hear?

Frank - "Basketball Jones" by Cheech and Chong!

Me - Oh. I got that right here Coach (played the cued up "I need someone to set a pick for me on the free thrown line of life" line).

Frank - "Ah, now we're cookin'!" Then he mentioned the show again.

I paid him with a bottle of vodka that we opened and sampled at the studio after one of his Monday night "Coach's Show".

Klondike may remember, maybe not.
