Jamjuice Is Now Sour Grapes

Forums:

After a 17 year stint as the winemaker for a family owned winery in Sonoma County California my wife, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic quit her job.

Her boss refused to let her work from home. He called it a vacation, said she wouldn't be paid and told her he would deduct her vacation days.

My wife is asthmatic, I took her to a late night ER visit just last month. She's scared and didn't want to be working with a crew of ten people at this time.

Her boss (former) screamed and cursed at her, eventually telling her to "Get the fuck out of here!" after she resigned

She's such an awesome woman. Didn't disserve the treatment she got.

I'm going to be fine, I have at least 2 months of wine before I run out but that means drinking the good stuff.

Drink the good stuff bub.

And poop on that guy & his winery. What's the name of the winery? We can start a boycott.

Hope you folks are good & safe, and keep that line moving.

She made the right call! I remember that guy, he fired his own sister.

She should qualify for unemployment since she's at risk.

Crap!

don't wanna be treated this 'ol way...

sorry to hear that guys. much love to you all!

guess he can make his own damned wine.

Wow, what a jerk! I'm sure you guys will be fine! My best to true mrs.

Calls for a blanket party.

Wottadick!

Good for her

Bosses like that are the worst

>>>  She's such an awesome woman  <<<

That is so absolutely true, in every way. She is among sweetest, most loyal and talented people there is. Damn.

((( Jamjuice )))

Hopefully the unemployment web page isn't crashing..

I put this out there without her knowing but it's only a matter of time. We've had intense conversations and plenty of advice from friends discussing the entire gamut of what went down and further.

Thanks for Zoner support, I needed to get that off my chest. Love you guys.

Love you both, Peak.

My wife wants to know which winery it is so she doesn't accidentally purchase any of their wines (I think I know the name, but am not sure that I remember it exactly).

Email's in my profile.

Wow, just wow!

She's such a gem and he's going to be sorry.

Don't blame you for wanting to vent, Pete.

Trying times for almost everyone.

Enjoy each other

Bummer, what giant a-hole and bully. He tried to bully your wife into an unsafe work situation. Hard see a winery as being an essential work place. They left the liquor stores open. My wife the nurse says they can't have the alkies going thru DT's and taking up a hospital bad.

If you guys need help down the road, please drop me a line.

You're not alone.

That's fucked up.  Sorry you guys are going through this during an already stressful time.

Hang in there !

Peak, just reading this again and thinking what a good guy you are. You're a matched set of treasures. heart

With that much experience, it won't be too tough finding a new gig once things calm down.  Good luck to you all.

Whatever happened to Wino, aka Spotlese?  He'd surely have some insight.

Peak, sorry to hear that, what a shitty story.

I hope you folks are able now to just calm down and see what's next. As Dave said,

there will be demand for someone with her experience again.

Take care.

>>>If you guys need help down the road<<<

I think more accurately it would be "help down the river".

>>>thinking what a good guy you are<<<

He can be a bit of a stickler (These cans are only DOUBLE-bagged!!!) but he's OK.

Hey Peak, that employer was so wrong and with the CA lockdown it was probably illegal as well.  Something new and better will come out of it.  A well placed social media post about what happened could really impact their business if you guys want to go that route.  Without jamjuice their  next vintage will suck anyway.

What an undeserving AssHole. I support her decision not to be there. We spend more waking hours @ work than with our families, would she accept  this kind of abuse @ home? I hope not.

Much love to you both.

I am sure you will both be fine.

boo for shitty fucking employers

better to be done with him

best hopeful wishes

Jam and Peak are among my top Zoner couples of all time

love and miss you guys

be safe and be well

Jam Juice can make and sell her own wine. She is good. I've tasted several of her wines, and enjoyed. I see potential for a future proprietary Jam Juice brand of creative wine blends, with colorful art on the labels. I could get behind selling/marketing Jam Juice!  Creating, finding, or uncovering a niche. Perhaps after some dust settles, it becomes a conversation. No seed money, but I may have a head full of ideas and some chutzpah to offer. Good luck!

(((((Incomes/livelihoods))))

Yeah, what Gary said.

What a dickhead. Maybe she will be better off somewhere else after this is all done.  Wondering how the 17 yrs have been? Has she wanted to quit working for the asshole before?  I don't know anyone sweeter than Jam, or more solid than you, Peak. I am sure all will be well when the dust clears.

I agree that there may be a lawsuit there.

Boycotting the winery is a must.

I enjoyed your wife's book "So you want to go wine tasting".

I tried to get Bart to read it,but he was a beer drinker.

Take care Everyone.

Congratulations to darlin Dawne

now the change that she wanted / needed so badly will be guaranteed

with some fresh air, meditation, visioning exercises and unemployment benefits
