Californians: Statewide Stay at Home starting tonight

Forums:

Your governor puts stay at home order into effect starting tonight. Will it be everywhere soon?

We need presidential leadership to give us the same nation-wide rules for everybody. Unfortunately not gonna get it from Herr Drumph.

Portland has a draft shelter-in-place policy on deck, but this new story shows that local public health officials don't think it's necessary: https://www.oregonlive.com/coronavirus/2020/03/shelter-in-place-policy-n...

Eerily quiet.

So far, I'm pretty happy with our "shelter in place" situation in the East Bay; however I'm quite lucky that I can (must) work at home and keep getting paid (my agency is an "Essential Business").

Seems like a lot more folks are outside: walking, running, biking, hanging out at parks with the kids, etc.

As long as we're keeping a safe distance away from each other...

>>>>Eerily quiet.

True that.  I've been pretty much walking down the middle of my local streets so that I can avoid getting too close to other people.  Still, lots of understanding smiles, giving the feeling that we're all in this together (in general).

Stay at home order, yet won’t be enforced.  More fear mongering.

if you’re going to order this stay at home, enforce it.

idiot ^...

I have to clean the pools.

^Well, as long as those pool-owning people remain indoors you should be OK.  I hope that you have enough work to get by.

starting to practice virtual social distancing from some Zoners posts...

There will be a nation wide lockdown by Wednesday

Racket, I hope that you don't get your way.  Heavy enforcement may very well be activated if/when the proverbial shit hits the fan and people act out in ways to further fan the flames of illness.

That’s not very heady of you walstib.

Johnny it’s not my way, even in Italy people are getting tickets.

Those who work on the frontline should get combat pay.

If you need Drumph or anybody for that matter to make rules and decisions for you your a lost cause. Don't blame your nemesis!

I've been thinking about that very same thing all day today.  Risking their lives so that others might survive.  And not having enough resources to get the job done.

Heroes.

>>Risking their lives so that others might survive.

Commuters do that every damn day in CA. Ask Turtle.

^^^ That JGB show is pumping Doc, thanks man!

I was thinking of getting out of the house tomorrow, heading somewhere south of Half Moon Bay, figuring the beaches/coast would be pretty deserted and give myself and my little dog a break.

Is that against the rules now?

I think Dog walking is considered an essential activity.

Sounds fun.
I hear state parks are closed though, might want to avoid those.

I received an email yesterday from Ca State Parks Customer Service:

.....As of today, non-campground outdoor areas of parks, including trails and beaches, remain open. Visitors are reminded to practice social distancing and maintain at least six feet between other visitors and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. Restrooms also remain open, and visitors are advised to take soap for hand washing and alcohol-based hand sanitizers when water is not available.

State Parks previously announced the closure of high public use indoor facilities including visitor centers, museums and cafes.

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause to your travel plans. For the most up-to-date information on how State Parks is supporting the state’s COVID-19 efforts, please visit the State Parks website or follow State Parks on its social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Lance, I hope that you and your dog have a wonderful day.

The parking lot at Stinson Beach is federal so it is closed, but you just park elsewhere and walk to the beach.

The restrooms will be locked but they don't "close" the beach.

There are more people at the coast than you might think.

A lot of people trying to escape big cities.

Thanks Johnny.

Scooter thanks you too.

No. I know what to do and we are doing it. Thinking instead of all the different jurisdictions and the fact that they all have diff. rules and restrictions about what can stay open. For instance, Oregon has closed schools and banned gathering of over 10 people. Idaho, just next door, has not (I haven't checked this morning). The people out there need a clear path, and everyone needs to be on it.
