Kind of odd. Change can be a good thing, especially after 20 years at the same place, but still, does he really think the grass will be greener in San Diego, Tampa Bay or really anywhere else?
There's gotta' be more to it. I wonder what the real reasons are.
It's going to be really weird to see someone else at QB for the Patriots. I can only imagine how weird it will be for Pats fans.
Well, get over it. You got more than most any fan could ever hope for.
A bit shocked by this one. Figured maybe they'd pick up Bridgewater but looks like he's locked in with the Pathers. Don't have high draft picks either....hmmmm
Looking like the end of an era for Boston sports. First Betts and now Brady. Old man Plunket went on to win a super bowl after leaving the Patriots. Maybe Brady will do the same.
I really think it comes down to both Brady and Belichick wanting to prove that they can win with out the other.
>>>I really think it comes down to both Brady and Belichick wanting to prove that they can win with out the other<<<
Even though it's a little shallow, especially for someone as accomplished as Brady, I can see where maybe he could be thinking about proving that point, or even "If Manning could do it so can I", but it's hard to imagine that Belichick wanted Brady to leave, especially since he doesn't have a replacement groomed and ready.
Is there ever a time that Belichick doesn't have a plan for whatever is going to happen?
Because really, who IS going to play QB in New England next year? Cam Newton? Phillip Rivers? Andy Dalton? Yeesh.
Personally, despite everything that's been reported I'm still not convinced that the 49ers & Belichick don't still have something up their sleeves, with Brady coming the the BA and the 49ers trading Garoppolo back to NE.
Ultimately I just hope we get back to normal sooner than later and all of this matters at all.
Good day in upstate N.Y. regardless of all else that's happening . The bills are lock for AFC East champs as long as there is a football season. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out NE Tommy.
He might take some sacks, Brady got special treatment. They let him drill the ball into the ground anytime someone got near him. Got a feeling Tommy is in for a long year in Tampa. He should have retired 2 years ago. I was at Joe Montana 's playoff loss in bilo when he was wearing a chiefs uni. Long time ago, but when the time is up.....it's up.
What is it with HOF QB's who don't know when it's time to ride off into the sunset?
Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, Brett Favre...all failed after leaving the teams that brought them fame. What makes Brady think he's any different? They all would have done well to end their careers where they started, like Terry Bradshaw.
Joe didn't fail in Kansas City and he didn't leave the team that brought him fame. He was traded and he was still a very effective QB both years in KC. He made the Pro Bowl and got to the championship game his first year with the Chiefs and then he lead them to the playoffs again his final year. Like everything else he did right, he retired at the right time, when it was physically time for him to do it, not a minute before.
Farve also still had gas in the tank when he left the Packers, playing well for a year with the Jets and then at 40 he had one of his best years ever for the Vikings his first year there. He faded his last year at 41, but he didn't embarrass himself.
Brady may be 43 and he's not as physically gifted as he was, but he's in great shape and can still play at a high level, so why shouldn't he?
He could have and maybe from a legacy standpoint should have stayed in NE, but maybe he didn't like the talent around him. Maybe there were other reasons we don't know about, maybe he just wants a new challenge, but if he has a good coach and excellent "skill" players around him, which he will in TB, and if he gets good protection which he will definitely need, then he is going to win some games.
I am no Patriots fan, but jeezum, there are some very upset football fans who can't get over things that are, in the long run, not really that important.
