Aloha! Reporting in from the Big Island. Tonight's show (originally at 2-Step Beach) has been moved farther south to Tiki Mama's in Oceanview.. southwest slope of the volcano.
Last night's show was my first of the run... but have to admit I stayed outside to dance and watch sunset at same time.
Got pics and a video, but can't post those from phone.
Working my way south to Oceanview, beach by beach.
Staying at a tropical fruit farm tonight and Saturday!

with all due respect, the tour promoters are not incompetent... Gloria and Chuck doing the best they can under difficult circumstances
the first 4 venues on the Big Island are all new to the DNB (as are all 4 Maui venues), and finding new places where the fans can freak freely and BYOB is no simple task
I for one am very appreciative of being able to experience my favorite band playing some very cool new venues in Paradise, without oppressive security or having to buy overpriced beverages
Viva la DNB!!

and yeah the 2 step show the property owners or whatever pulled the plug last minute. Major super props to C and G for finding another freak friendly place at the very last minute! Not their fault at all. All venues have been byob, puff and freak friendly. Local bruddahs running security. Good times.

excellent and well-played show at an idyllic venue, directly adjacent to a sandy beach (but, a chain-link fence separated the venue from the beach)
a bit surprised, and somewhat disappointed, that every song was a repeat from what was played on the Big Island... was expecting they'd throw in a couple "fresh" tunes for the Full Nelson crew
there's still a lot left out there that hasn't been played yet... Yvonne, No Souvenirs, Sliding Delta, Diamond Joe, Big Six, Dirt Farmer, Free Mexican Air Force, Ragged But Right, This Wheel's On Fire, Stella Blue, Lazy River Road, White Lightning...

surprised and very pleased to see that videographer Ray Charon has posted a couple more videos from the 2020 DNB Hawaii run... killer footage from his multi-camera pro-shot videos, including lots of close-up action and occasional glimpses into the crowd
first up, a taste of the blissful scene on 2/28 in Kalapana at Uncle Robert's on the east side of the Big Island... the video includes a meaty part of the first set from the end of Sun King where it segues into an awesome Movin' Right Along, and ending with a transition to the start of Jupiter Hollow... the band is playing at an unbelievably high level here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1dJW4RRqAc

I just discovered that
I just discovered that another pro-shot video from the DNB Hawaii tour 2020 was released by Ray Charon at the end of May!
This one's from the 2nd show of the run -- Feb. 25 at the Old Airport venue just north of Kona town -- and includes the first 2 songs of the 2nd set, Any Naked Eye > Every Grain of Sand
At the beginning of the video, David announces that the entire 2nd set is dedicated to Brad Stiles, an old friend of the band who had tragically passed away in early November 2019 after some sort of accident near where he lived in Iowa. I got to meet Brad and his wife, Tricia, a couple of times and remember them as friendly, fun-loving folks who were long-time fans of DNB and NRPS and GD.
This is the show that soundman extraordinaire Timmy Stiegler was touting as one of DNB's best in recent memory. I'm certainly inclined to agree.
