Well, the author of that quote blew his brains out at his kitchen table in front of his wife, so I'm not so sure HST is the best model for how to behave in times of crisis.

It's pretty weird that grown people are fighting over toilet paper.  I wouldn't suggest that either.

The weird thought I've been having tonight is that we're all being played.  Sure, this flu is nasty, and we should use common sense to avoid it, but the mass hysteria, shuttering of society, and stock market reaction all seem disproportionate to me.  The SARS and MERS epidemics didn't evoke this sort of reaction, and they were more lethal.   What's different now than then?  The rise of the 24 hour news cycle and social media are certainly a component.  I've seen it suggested that the media is guilty of economic malpractice for sensationalizing this story.  As Trump's strongest talking point was a robust economy, it's rapid downturn will clearly hurt him, much the way the Great Depression wrecked Herbert Hoover's political career.  He's a charlatan and a blowhard, so if he's shown the door, there is at least that, but do the ends justify the means?  A lot more people will be hurt and marginalized by the economic meltdown than by the virus.

Dave on point

Boy that sure is a lot of reading into a thread, and I thought I was on a lil romp thru the park

Maybe all the motherfucking lying will finally bring him down.

You think the media that won't fact-check him or call a lie a lie is trying to bring him down?

Zoner, please.

>>>blew his brains out at his kitchen table in front of his wife

Technically she was on the phone and didn't even know it happened....but sure.   Getting old sucks and my take based off what I've read is that he didn't want to suffer any more.

In the current picture, I also think there are a few things at play here and not just the virus.  For one, there has been talk of a market correction for a year now and while investors didn't mind riding it as it went up, I think some were ready to jump at any indication of a down turn.  Two, the oil mess between Saudi and Russia.   Third, Trumps handling of the situation and not taking it seriously.   I agree the spewing of information, right or wrong is out of control.   And more so the opinions.   We shold be focuse don facts at a time like this and not getting a story out asap.

I go back and forth between whether I'm overly concerned or shrug it off.   But if people's lives are at risk (even if it's mostly the elderly) we should do what we can to prevent further spreading.   Save the elderly zoners!!!!!

Dave you ignorant slut, yep gettin a lot of mileage out of that one lately.

Have you seen the numbers comming out of china ?  The virus is declining rapidly. They say they're already past peak. They say that's because they shut the country down for a few weeks, banning everything and forcing folks to stay home. More info for you, its not a flu, and  It's so contagious you can get it from a passerby 10 feet away.  Doing the same here as in china is absolutely the right thing.

Ha I know you ya big kidder, you just posted that to troll a responce huh

The beatings will continue until morale improves

I'll take my chances with the virus and the recession if it means we can flush Trump in Nov. .

The Real McCoy

We are Family.

Driving through listening to Colorado public radio they interviewed HST's son who was in the house, I believe with his wife in kids sleeping a few rooms over. When asked why HST chose that, was he was facing medical issues and didn't want him or his family to suffer. And that he knew it would be a media frenzy and thought his son was best equipped to face the spotlight.
