I'm reading that a town called "New Rochelle, NY" is under quarantine due to the Coronavirus. I looked at a map and this town is less than ten miles from the upcoming Phil Lesh 80th birthday shows.
I hope Phil doesn't get sick.
Also, maybe it will make tickets affordable enough for people to fly in who wouldn't have otherwise. It can be like a chicken-pox party.

So i live just across the connecticut border 5 mins from the cap. From talking to friends who live outside of the ny metro area, they are really scared about the alarming number of cases in westchester county and specifically in new rochelle. I think the scariest thing is that most people who are in good health and are under 40, may have COVID and not even realize it. Its been hard to get tested, but in the past week, it seems to be getting easier. As for those with phil tixs and rethinking coming to the show, i can only share with you my thinking. I am 68 years old and in excellent health. I have tixs for saturday phil. They are in the balcony. If i had floor tixs, i seriously would consider not going or tryng to trade for balcony seating. I was going to go to the brothers tonite at msg, but riding into the city on a train and then a subway and being in close quarters with lots of people, gave me cause for concern. If you are in good health and young, its probably worth the risk to,go, as long as you take the precautions that are all over the internet.
If you have sunday tixs in the balcony and decide its not worth the risk, i will gladly buy them. Rest assured your tixs will be enjoyed and i will do my best to,help you out down the road get tixs for a cap, show. My email is : [email protected]

The experts on NPR yesterday covered ths. They attribute the second positive test to the fact that when you have most any virus you are likely to test positive after you've recovered. The antibodies are still in your system, so no you can't get it twice..sort of. they also said that Immunity from getting the virus is supposed to last 2-3 years. In lieu of that, there is very little consistency of policy. Just look at the ncaa basketball. Some games will be played with limited or no fans, some with restricted number of fans and some will go on as planned. Unfortunately port chester is 15 minutes from new rochelle. The safest thing i hate to say would be to postpone, but if they dont, i am goin. To stress my earlier post, i would not be on the floor and i cancelled goin to the brothers last nite feeling that was a much higher risk than goin to the cap. For most people, its more like the flu or bronchitus. If you are in poor health or elderly, The coronavirus is just one more thing to be concerned about. there is no fucking way id be going to a show right now that is filled with both wooks and people who have traveled thru airports from all over the country and possibly the world.
y'all are nuts.
at this point it seems like the evidence shows this is spread through the air. someone with the virus breathes out in an enclosed indoor space, other in that space also breathe the air, they get the virus.
no amount of hand washing or elbow bumping can protect you against a virus that spreads primarily thru the air.
this is a good time to be a cannabis employee. i live on the farm so i get to work from home, miles and miles away from any kind of town or neighbors. doing monstrously huge grocery trips, hoping to only need to head to town maybe twice a month very late at night to buy food when grocery stores are near empty.
a few days ago we had someone come up to our hill to pick up some clones and the next day they told us they had been diagnosed with coronavirus by a pulmonolgist in lakeport, CA. for some reason they refused to give us the name of the doctor or any info we could use to confirm the story. all news reports and communication outlets for lake county are not reporting any confirmed cases. one story posted after we recived the call even confirms testing is going on, but says nobody has tested positive.
many CA counties are not releasing full numbers due to privacy concerns.
is this guy full of shit? is lake county not reporting their first coronavirus case to the public? luckily my five day incubation period is almost up and i feel fine, but if this guy is telling the truth, its still possible i have the coronavirus. ill be totally in the clear for the standard incubation period by friday.
ive stocked up on food and essentials and am far more worried about the consequences of quarrantines, public panic, lockdowns, government incompetence, and other societal responses than i am about the virus...but still, this incident has freaked me out pretty good, especially considering the conflicting reports from someone who claims to have been diagnosed by a medical professional, and state and county governments that are still reporting no cases in lake county.
to lance's great dismay, ive got to throw my two cents out there - dont go to the show. here is one deadhead, who is at very low risk to even catch the virus, who has possibly caught the virus - me. how many more are there out there who are not as well read or diligent about their health, the health of others and current events? possibly many. stay the fuck home, drugband shows are not worth it. you all have seen phil hundreds of times.

Phil camp announcement coming
The only scenario that the Cap would cancel is if they're forced to. Both parties are waiting it out and when it comes down to it it's all about money. There really isn't a concern of the patrons. The Cap would only cancel if they were forced by the state....so Phil's camp sits back and waits. If Phil's camp cancels, which is very possible, the Cap at least recoups the advance. JRAD just canceled/re
JRAD just canceled/re-scheduled their four night run, only one day before the show in Grand Rapids.
Over the last few days, we as an organization continually went back and forth over how to best handle this current global health scare. In the end, we all decided that it would be irresponsible for us to encourage large gatherings in light of the recent COVID-19 situation. Taking the lead from schools, universities, city events and from other touring artists in the US and across the globe, we decided to postpone our shows in Grand Rapids, Madison and St. Louis this weekend.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes to any of you who made plans to see us during this run. Please know that your safety is of our utmost concern and we truly believe that postponing these shows is in the interest of our direct community and the community at large.
The shows in question will be rescheduled as follows:
Thursday, September 3, 2020: 20 Monroe Live ~ Grand Rapids, MI
Friday, September 4, 2020: The Sylvee ~ Madison, WI
Saturday, September 5, 2020: The Pageant ~ St. Louis, MO
Sunday, September 6, 2020: The Pageant ~ St. Louis, MO
All tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates or can be refunded at the point of purchase.
It breaks our hearts to do this, but in the end, we all agreed that performing this weekend felt like we were putting our fans, venue staff, JRAD crew and band at risk unnecessarily.
Be safe out there and take care of each other.
With love, gratitude, and care,
JRAD

Lots of people on Facebook are saying they are going to get canceled. Looks like all the people who pressured the Cap to do so win this round. Sucks for people with nonrefundable travel arrangments

A STATEMENT FROM THE CAPITOL
Looks like it's time to cancel travel and lodging reservations :(
A STATEMENT FROM THE CAPITOL THEATRE
The Capitol Theatre and Phil Lesh have been closely monitoring the escalation of the Coronavirus outbreak. As much as we would like to celebrate Phil's birthday with three shows this weekend, our first priority is the health and safety of the artists, our patrons, our staff, and the community. Given the spread of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Rochelle, which is part of The Cap's Westchester county community, both The Cap and Phil have determined that the best course of action is to postpone these shows to the summer. We feel this is the right thing to do and we hope you understand our decision.
We are currently formulating our plan for next steps for ticket holders but we felt it was important to get this message out as soon as possible. We will follow up with all ticket holders with specific course of action in the next day or two.
