Tool tonight

Forums:

Never seen them before.  The venue's website had a warning that their light show might be too intense for epileptic folks.

I thought the subject referred to that ass in DC.

My thoughts exactly Judit.

A tool in the White house...?

Nice one, Judit.

I heard he just banned travel to Europe.

Prolly a good idea, all considered.

Trump is a fucking idiot. But not that Tool.

i heard acid kills the coronavirus, but you have to take approximately twice as much as you usually do. be safe ken, take 3x as much as usual

I was talking to a friend at the local pub tonight and he mentioned he saw tool back in the early 2000's at the Rose Garden in Portland. He and a friend were smoking a joint and absentmindedly went to hand the last half to whomever was in the row behind. the guy behind him growled and said "fuck you and your joint you dirty hippie".  Apparently he was a skinhead with face tats and hella methy attitude. He said another guy was doing laps up and down the stairs non-stop. Sounds like it will be an amped up, seizure inducing  show for sure.

Tools are useful

A Cheeto is shit

Have fun.. The only time I saw Tool was at bonnaroo years ago. Unbelievable show. The last time I saw laser lights like that was when pink floyd came to Birmingham. I suppose the acid probably helped, but man what a good time.

Is Fitzman a fan?

Missed half the opening act, a one man band DJ called Author & Punisher.  Call me old fashioned, but it sucks bad.  Bunch of noise.  Terrible and loud.  Glad we got here late.

I saw them at the gorge, it was fantastic.

had to look away at the lasers and the videos as it was super intense.

their dumz segment is amazing

Have fun, Ken.  No bro-hugs tonight.

my experience is that a tool crowd is very similar in some ways to a dead crowd...generally friendly, lots of ganja smoking, many many people are using psychedelics. they are a metal band so you do get some weirdos crossing over from thrash, death metal, black metal, hardcore etc.

but mostly folks are like less cheesy hippie versions of deadheads who wear all black instead of tie dye

I feel ya dL

which dead crowd tho?

heads who saw a lot of Jerry,

or

after...

*ps

how can you see a lot of jerry

Tool was good.  Psychedelic modal jam heavy metal played loud.   Killer light show.  One of the top seven or eight I have seen.   Rumor has it they have Pink Floyd's old light and laser rig, which they have augmented by a mosquito net looking thing draped on the outside of the stage for creepy projections and effects. Probably also keeps them safe from the spittle and what not from the crowd.  Place was sold out.

Yep. They did a second set and opened with Drumz.  Good shit,

Nice. Notice any corona prevention methods set up ?

^^^^

Uh, no.

Looks like no more concerts in Oregon...

Coronavirus in Oregon: Governor to issue sweeping ban on gatherings over 250 people

Gov. Kate Brown announced an extraordinary ban on meetings of 250 people or more Wednesday night in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The prohibition will last four weeks. If it remains in place, it could have enormous economic implications for businesses -- like professional sports teams, concert promoters and other operations -- that depend on crowds of spectators.

Brown will offer more detail about the ban, as well as other strategies intended to stunt the virus’ growth at a press conference Thursday

^ prevention method, check. Ken got one in under the wire

But now no Twiddle and ALO on Saturday for me.

The reason I ask about prevention methods ken is you can hardly go anywhere in Ct now without someone at the door squirting sanitizer on you or toweling you and your cart off as you enter any public building.

I saw Tool in November- I got way too high and wasn't able to enjoy myself.  I felt the band was sloppy as there were a few points where the tempo was sped up and the band sounded tight.  There were also a few points where it felt too structured/forced.  YMMV and my experience was, admittedly, altered from 4 hits of acid.

I guess Washington has implemented the same precaution. I got an email from Hayes Carll saying that only the first 250 people would be allowed into the show at mcmenamins elks temple last night. I was already planning on skipping his show in GP this Saturday anyways.

Some cool shows popping up because of this.  Last night's Patti Smith show at the Moore Theatre was cancelled, so her guitarist, Lenny Kaye, quickly booked a gig at a 150 person venue in Belltown.   One of my employees has a friend who was getting him in.  Curious to hear if Patti dropped in.
