An interesting and varied group of musicians from both sides of the pond gathered to give homage to the music of Peter Green last night in London.  A big surprise was the appearance of Jeremy Spencer, who hadn't been seen playing in a while.

A lot of great players for sure.

Peter Green was MIA.

"But drugs – including a potent form of LSD – put an end to his Fleetwood Mac career in 1970"

TIL that Peter Green was an acid casualty. I did not know that.

And what's a "potent form of LSD"? Too much of it?

German hippie acid.

the story is PG's Fleetwood Mac were in germany,  maybe a scandinavian country, at a party and Peter was tripping. He was invited down into the basement for something (a jam session, maybe) and when he came back up he was never the same again.  I heard this on a Peter Green documentary about 5 years ago.

also, Albatross is a beautiful song.

Clips I've seen so far from the other night are quite good. Gilmour playing laptop on 'Albatross' seems like a highlight.

Saw Peter Green twice in the late 90's with his band Splinter Group. The other guitarist did most of the heavy lifting, but Peter shone through once and awhile.  He actually reminded me of latter-day Jerry - kind of lumbering (and overweight) energy. Even his soloing had elements of Garcia. I later found out, Green was very taken with Jerry's playing since the 60's, so, there ya go.

Thanks for posting this, amazing guitarist.
