I'm going up the country, baby, don't you wanna go?
I'm going up the country, baby, don't you wanna go?
I'm going to some place where I've never been before
I'm going, I'm going where the water tastes like wine
I'm going where the water tastes like wine
We can jump in the water, stay drunk all the time
I'm gonna leave this city, got to get away
I'm gonna leave this city, got to get away
All this fussing and fighting, man, you know I sure can't stay
Now, baby, pack your leaving trunk, you know we've got to leave today
Just exactly where we're going I cannot say, but
We might even leave the USA
'Cause there's a brand new game that I wanna play
No use of you running or screaming and crying
'Cause you've got a home as long as I've got mine
I miss Henry Vestine, he lived here in the Corvallis area for many years, was always tearing it up w/ James Bradshaw, Ramblin' Rex, Mike Rosso Sr and the likes. (RIP to all).
Henry was a great guitarist, he lived with a buddy of mine in the 80s & 90’s. His favorite album was live at the topanga corral. I was always partial to boogie. Great blues band
The first smoking pot concert I went to was Canned Heat and Humble Pie. Bear was wearing a vest with no shirt on. He said, this is dedicated to the police.
He did a huge jelly belly shake, took a hit off a bottle of whiskey and fell into the drum set. Then got up and continued to boogie woogie.
On April 5, 1981, during a break between sets at The Palomino Club in North Hollywood, Hite was handed a drug vial by a fan. Thinking it contained cocaine, Hite stuck a straw into the vial and snorted it. The drug turned out to be heroin and Hite turned blue and collapsed. A group of roadies put Hite in the band's van and drove him to a nearby home, where he died.
Larry "The Mole" Taylor, their bass player, was great. He's on some really nice John Mayall records with Don "Sugarcane" Harris, and appears on a lot of Tom Waits albums. Great player we lost this past August.

Wow!
Then Humble Pie.
That's the way I remember it.

Harvey Mandel & Al Wilson on geetars
Larry Taylor - great blues bassist - played with Mayall for a while.
Vestine was in the original Mothers for a short time.
Wilson suffered from depression at a young age --finally did himself in one night in Laurel Canyon.
