Guns N' Roses

Forums:

One of the classic American rock and roll bands, right up there with Aerosmith, the Beach Boys, and Grand Funk Railroad.  Just pulled the trigger on their Seattle show in August.  Bucket list, check!

You're fuckin crazy.

have fun!

They played a NYE Dick Clark gig on TV one year (1990?), I watched it while waiting for the radio broadcast of the Dead show to begin.  I felt like I was watching Satan.

^^ WAS TRUMP 0N THE BILL??

Who's in the band these days ? Is axel still a drama queen asshole ?

Saw em a few times back in the day. Pure unbridled rock n rage n roll. Incredible, but talk about meltdowns, axel melted that band away. Last time I saw em Brian May warmed up, did a full set, great stuff, crowd into it. GnR didn't take the stage till 2 hours later ! And the venue (new haven colosseum) stopped selling beer after the 1st hour. After like 75 mins we see Izzy and Duff come out and fiddle with their shit, look around and walk off.  They didn't all come out for 45 more mins. People were pissed, no band, no beer, lots left. When they finally all made it to the stage it was their usual ball smashing show, but fuck them, no respect for the fans, I'm out. Found out later they were late cuz of axel being axel.

Have fun, it their day those mutherfuckers sure could bring it

That will be fun Ken. I have seen them 2 times. Once on the Appetite for Destruction tour in the spring of 88, they had not quite blown up yet and opened for Iron Maiden. That was a great show, I was close enough to the stage to catch 2 picks from Duff, I still have them. When they regrouped a couple years ago, I won tix on the radio and saw them in a stadium. I preferred the opening set in 88, but it was cool to see their massive production almost 25-30 years later.

The one and only time that I saw GNR was in 1989 when they opened for the Rolling Stones at the LA Coliseum (Steel Wheels Tour).

Some of you may remember the drama that occurred during the first show of that run (I didn't attend that show, thankfully, nor did I catch the second show with Eric Clapton).

I attended the last show and, quite frankly, I remember the Living Color set more than I remember GNR's performance (Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't play Sweet Child of Mine, which was one of my favorite songs of the late '80s).

The Rolling Stones' set was absolutely fantastic!  A wonderful memory.

Enjoy the Show!

PS: Here's a transcript of an article pertaining to the GNR drama at the time:

There’s an ad for the radiators w/ Danny Gatton band at the end of that article. Nice.

Its Axl (who has been the only constant over the years) with Slash and Duff from the classic lineup.  Their long time keyboard player Dizzy Reed is on this tour too, along with a couple other support players.   I understand they have their shit together.  Last I heard, Slash and Duff are both sober and Axl has matured and finally learned how to be punctual on start times.

They started a few minutes early when I saw them a couple years ago.

OK, I can't help posting this poor quality video of the GNR show that I attended...

Meh.  Slash ain't worth listening to Axl.

     Ken,

I realize you graduated from a law school, but you listen to some of the worst music from a very dark period of terrible music.

^  I should probably rephrase that as to say for someone who I hold in such high esteem, I'm surprised at your musical tastes..."to each his own", I'm just really hyper-sensitive to music I feel to be negative, it's a thing with me, I don't like it.

Having said that...I do value your thoughts & ideas, it's important to have a level playing field of thoughts & ideas.
