Video Games

Forums:

Share some of your favorites.  All time my picks have to be in the Nintendo world -  all super Marios, the original Legend of Zelda, Tyson's Punch Out.

Arcade games-  Paperboy is easily my favorite.  Galaga of course.

I'm a total newb on any of the new stuff.  I have a Wii.  Thinking about getting a PlayStation to play GTA.  Probably not the best move to drop a few hundred to play one game series.

Paperboy and Toobin'

I haven't played on a home console in more than a decade.

Madden was the only game played with any regularity.

There's this place out in the suburbs where you pay $3 and the guy lets you play all his arcade games (12 or so) for the day.  You can leave and come back as you please.  I take my nephew there once in a while.  I asked the dude if he was ever going to buy Paperboy, apparently it's pretty expensive as far as arcade games go.  So no time soon.

Where's chicken bong when you need him?  I forgot his real name and handle, lol.

I've been casually browsing for a Paperboy or a Toobin'  machine for years. Haven't found one for a price I'm willing to pay

Mrs.  Showgoer.  I remember now.

Just looked up Toobin'.  Not familiar at all but it looks cool.

^You could win a Toobin' tshirt,  if you were able to capture all the letters to spell Toobin'. I once had them all, except the apostrophe. I'm still haunted by this failure

My nephew has a raspberry pi for retro video games. Dad bought it for him, lol, and himself.  There's some bootleg version of Paperboy on there and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game too.

I always kind of liked adventure type games I guess.

Gauntlet and Super Mario 3 on Nintendo

Asteroids and pole position on 2600

Medal of Honor PlayStation

Cruis’n USA arcade

no zoners playing current games? i bought a fancy gaming pc last year and have been getting deep into dark souls

I like playing Galaga or Ms. Pac Man when I am at the pizza parlor.   Other than that, not really into video games except for Civilization.  That is one of my guilty pleasures and can totally geek out to that for hours on end.

When my son is in town, we usually break out his old is Playstation and play a few games of Madden.

>>>>There's some bootleg version of Paperboy

That's a blast from the past.  The pizza place used to have a thing called the "Multicade," which was a machine loaded with about 50 different classic era arcade games, including Paperboy, all for a quarter a game.   I always sucked at Paperboy, but it was fun nevertheless.  Too bad they got rid of that machine.

I bought a PS4 Pro when they came out 3-4 years ago. It was the first console I've had since I was a teenager. Quite a jump from a Sega Genesis. But Grand Theft Auto 5 is fucking amazing. Red Dead Redemption 2 is great as well. Made by the same company as GTA but it's western-themed.

I rarely play my PS4 anymore. It sits in rest mode and I'll go weeks without turning it on. But PS5 is slated to come out towards the end of the year and I'll buy it for the hell of it. I used to laugh when I saw people waiting in line for new games but when GTA 6 comes out in a year or two I'll be right there with them. That game will be fucking epic.

... and haven't even scratched the surface.

>> dark souls

Don't think the PC I'm currently running could run this on the specs I'd like but I recently got a Nintendo Switch and this game is super fun and super challenging on the console. A++, would throw controller out the window again.

Dark Souls was so difficult I quit playing it twice lol. I like playing video games, but I'm not good at it.

Haven't really seen anything interesting for PS4 since RDRII,  but the Borderlands, GOW, and Uncharted series are all super fun. So was the game with robot dinosaurs, but I can't remember what it's called.

I play chess pro in the iphone

I never played this game, but wonder if anyone here has:

dise - the guys who made dark souls have a new game coming out this year in collaboration with GRRM...a huge part of dark souls was "the lore"...there isnt a really solid story like most games, instead there is a super complicated backstory and lore that you can glean from conversations, or reading the item descriptions in your inventory menu.

i assume the new game, called Elden Ring, will have a more fully fleshed out story, but in any case, martin is writing the entire backstory and lore for the world the game exists in.

time to get good.

In my arcade days, I played a lot of Galaga and Berserker.  There was also pinball, which I still enjoy.  Air Hockey was also popular.

My folks never bought us home video games, but my neighbor had Pong when it came out, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and the portable football game.

Pinball is classic.  Never goes out of style.
