My brother had it and the cover caught my eye, I had listened to other Floyd and like it a lot. It was summer of 77 and I just turned 12 when I put it on the turntable and I spun it for 8 hours in my room till 4 am when my Dad came in and smacked me and told me to go to bed.

Still gives me goose bumps.

What Floyd doesn't give you goosebumps ?  That shit is life altering.

We are truly blessed to have lived in the golden age of head music.

prob forgetting a ton...interesting tidbit, is that the most common variable in this list in van dyke parks, writing the lyrics for smile, preforming his own debut song cycle, and writing the orchestra arragements for joanna newsom's Y's.

on top of this, when i was really little, one of my favorite disney movies was jungle book, and my favorite song was "bare nessecities", which van dyke parks wrote the arragement for.

Yeah, too many to list, but just off the top of my head, and if I could only pick one, it would be:

Last year, we saw a showing of "36 Chambers of Shaolin" with RZA in person performing a live soundtrack.

1. Saucerful of Secrets

I've been revisiting all my old albums over the past couple of years and picking a favorite would be impossible, even if it was narrowed down to just PF.

Good call!  Thanks for the reminder.

My pick would be Quad, but just goes to show how hard picking favorites is, even for a single band/artist.  I still have the LP of Who By Numbers I picked up at Rasputin's way back when.  Great cover drawing by Entwistle.  Spinning the CD now, great album.  More good writing by Pete.  Great contributions by Nicky Hopkins. Good live bonus tracks.

but gad damn rock and roll animal is one the best albums ever

I'm an Animals fan also! Just perfect imho! My fave Floyd album from the the ones I've heard. Love the early ones like Umma and saucerful but Animals has memories of my early youth and remember when they played Chicago in 77 and so much good music from those years. Plus it's just a good album imo. Love it more than Dark Side or Wish you were here.
